I've some cars around my area with fake paper plates, at night they are not reflective so it's very difficult to read. Sometimes they just take the plates off completely.
Here is what a legit paper plate in CA looks like, VI N and expiration is printed on the plate:

Your camera might be too old to support V8 of the http APIs, but looks like there is some ability to adjust the focus.
I have not tried this with my Reolink PTZ, so I am not sure how well it works. But just a few days ago, I needed to be able to set focus manually on another PTZ in very...
So just a docker compose pull to update, then go to then http://url/update to complete the update?
Or do we need to grab the migration.sql first
Thanks!
I think these devices wake it up by sending pulsing an electromagnet and I think they only work when it's within inches of the sensor, but I haven't taken one apart to confirm.
You will not find any firmware updates for these cameras via the normal avenues. You might be able to install the original Uniview firmware on them if the firmware is not signed with Vigilant's certs. I haven't tried, so I am not sure if it will work.
When you are ready for some fun, go to...
Solved. I'm posting this in case it's useful to someone in the future who has a camera that does not have stepped focusing (the ability to adjust focus by providing the camera a specific value).
The camera I am using is a full size PTZ, branded as a Vigilant VSR-60-02MP3, which is a rebranded...
You can try this, but I am not sure what you mean by password type. This camera is reporting Vigilant's firmware, but it's actually an OEM Uniview, maybe with some LPR optimization in the firmware (I can't tell, I don't have a Uniview to compare to).
curl --digest -u USERNAME:PASSWORD -X GET...
Lol. No, not this one. I have about half dozen of LPRs on different properties so I fully understand the importance of using the right tool for the job.
It's fine, I was just checking with the community to see if there are some manual focus strategies that might be useful for cameras that do...
This is what I am working with LOL:
Those are reflectors in the road that divide the direction of traffic. If the far reflector is bleeding less than the nearest one, it's in focus enough to work, but that's not sufficient for auto focus to work so it has to be done manually. These is a...
I've been struggling with a Uniview PTZ that I am using for LPR. I am trying to use this camera to capture plates at 140-160ft away, and when the camera is in focus, I am able to read the plates clearly. It works w/o any issues during the day time, AF is fast and there isnt much work needed to...
Congrats on the camera. I have a bunch of them and I use it for LPR, and it works pretty well. The IR could be a little stronger, but it works fine up to about 100ft. Be careful with waterproofing if you are running it on POE, make extra sure the ethernet connector is dry, otherwise it will...
