    PTZ6C2M-45X vs PTZ5A4M-25X

It sure was. No plate on the back of the car at all. His marker must have run out of ink.

    Why didn't I realize this sooner? (Color4K-T180)

One of the things that has always annoyed me regarding the IPC-Color4K-T180 camera is that the detection area only works well in the center of the camera. Anything to the sides—especially corners—is worthless for detection, whether it be an intrusion zone or tripwire. Raising the sensitivity...

    PTZ6C2M-45X vs PTZ5A4M-25X

I agree with the others above. If you don't have much light, the PTZ5AM-25X will work well. Here is an example with no added lights on my driveway--just the PTZ5AM's built-in IR. Also, the beta software of the animal firmware is working very well with this camera.

    PTZ Camera Recommendation

BTW, the tracking on the new camera (PTZ5A4M-25X) is amazing compared to the older PTZ. Here is a cat about 50 feet away yesterday that the PTZ tracked.

The new camera uses the same mount as the old camera. Very easy to swap out the old one for the new one.

Error Msg when trying to access camera configuration

Hope someone can help me with this. I just installed a new camera with my Dahua NVR. No problems with that, but when I try to access the camera (on channel 2) to make settings via the web interface on my computer, I get the message: “Please use HTTPS to access” I have never had that happen...

    Bird deterrent for turret cameras?

Just wondering if any of you have suggestions for bird deterrents for turret cameras. Bird spikes work great at keeping birds off my PTZ cameras, but I haven't yet found anything that works equally well for turret cameras.

    PTZ Camera Recommendation

I just replaced one of my SD49225XA-HNR cameras this morning with a PTZ5A4M-25X. It is definitely worth the upgrade; but as others have mentioned, it is a beast! Mounting it was more challenging than the old camera because the cable is so much wider and stiffer. Pushing it up into the mount...

Color 4K-T -- Day / Night... im missing something

Here is a pic of one of the cameras with a DIY windscreen. I used to do a lot of audio recording and had several black and gray windscreens for microphones that I could cut up and experiment using on the cameras.. For my black cameras I of course used the black windscreens, and for the white...

Color 4K-T -- Day / Night... im missing something

I'll see if I can take some pictures tomorrow of the windscreens. It's raining hard here today on the California Coast. The screens are quite easy to make. If the cameras are out in the open I tend to use the foam windscreens, but it they are installed under a covered area (like a porch), I...

Color 4K-T -- Day / Night... im missing something

I leave the volume at 75-80 for that particular camera, but since all of my cameras have windscreens, I am sure that attenuates a lot of the volume. I make windscreens from standard microphone foam windscreens and Rode DeadCat windshields. I attach them to the cameras with Command Strips. It...

Best Dahua Front Door Camera recommendation 2025

I'd definitely agree with others that the 4M-T is a wise choice for the front door. I tried several cameras for my front door, and the 4M-T works well in low light at night, has a great sounding speaker, and features a good microphone too. Here is a quick demo of the 3.6mm 4M-T at my front door...

Color 4K-T -- Day / Night... im missing something

I use AAC on all my cameras with noise filter "off." Volume at "95" Since I transfer the videos to Final Cut Pro on my Macintosh, AAC seems to work best.

That's interesting because I have mine set for 12 hours (although I am customizing it for sunrise/sunset each month), and it seems to be working fine.

    Best Dash Camera 2024

Here are some pictures from this morning. I put a CPL on my camera lens to eliminate any glare. Even with that, the dash cam is pretty much invisible from outside the vehicle. I also took pictures from the inside looking out, so you can see their position.

    Best Dash Camera 2024

It's dark here now, but I can take some pics for you in the morning. Here are a few phone camera shots after I installed the dash cam. I don't think anyone would notice either the front or rear cameras. I drew arrows pointing to their locations.

I just saw your post and decided to jump in the truck and make you a video of some Viofo A229 Pro footage at night. (I also added a little daytime footage from this morning at the end, so you can see how night and day videos compare.) Note that both the front and rear cameras have polarizing...

    Animal detection with IPC-B54IR-Z4E-S3

Ever since I turned on "animal detection," this camera has been entertaining. Never know what I'll see until I check the NVR the next morning, and the IPC-B54IR-Z4E-S3 is the best camera for low light. Wondering if others have videos of critters they have captured.

    $20 for Dahua-compatible keyboard w/trackpad

Searched a long time for a keyboard that I could use remotely with my Dahua NVR, since the NVR is hidden away in a closet, and the TV's in the house are connected via IP. This one works perfectly with the Dahua NVR. Just ordered a spare today, as this one is now $20 on Amazon. Great price if you...

IPC-Color4K-X-6MM alternative with longer focal length?

Here is a quick video demo of the 4K-X 6mm, B54IR-Z4E-S3, and SD49225 PTZ from a couple nights ago. They were all focused on the same driveway. You can see how important color is with the 4K-X and how the Z4E works in complete darkness with the IR. .

IPC-Color4K-X-6MM alternative with longer focal length?

Exactly right. I have both a 4K-X 6mm and B54IR-Z4E-S3 focused on different parts of my driveway. The 4K-X is amazing, even with its built-in warm light at night; and the Z4E is fantastic with its IR. If those aren't long enough, the B52IR-Z12E-S2 would be the one to get. Just make sure you stay...

    Best Dash Camera 2024

Video storage takes a lot of space for sure, but that is why I have a 32TB HD on my Macintosh. If an incident happens, I just want to be able to review those last 2 minutes and have the video to edit. I found that a worthwhile investment, if you have a 229 Pro, is a Viofo BTR200 remote button...

    Best Dash Camera 2024

You can access the loop setting on the dash cam, although making the settings on the app is a bit easier (attached). I found that a setting of 2 minutes is the sweet spot. A setting of 1 minute creates way too many files, but 2 minutes is a nice compromise and allows easy editing of the videos...

best/funniest audible alert for cams that have that capability

I absolutely love the new IPC-Color4M-T cameras. Though the speaker is better in the N55DU82 and 4K-X cameras I have, the added features of the Color 4M-T make it a better choice for general use. In my back yard along a rear fence, I have gunshot sounds that activate if someone crosses an...

There is certainly something wrong with that camera. I have all three focal lengths of 4K-X (2.8, 3.6, and 6mm) and the 6mm is my favorite. Sharpest camera of all the cameras that I have installed at my home: 5442T-ZE, T5449H-ASE-D2, N55DU82, B54IR-S3, Color4M-T, HFW5241E-Z12E, 54IR-AS S3...

    NV41AI-8P-4K HDD Recommendation

I always choose the 5400rpm drives over the 7200rpm drives, as they run cooler and are less prone to failure.
