Review-Dahua/EmpireTech Dual lens IPC-HDBW5441F-AS-E2 (The Boobie Cam Upgrade)

I have uninstalled IE from all of my machines since I never use it. I guess I'll have to reinstall it for one. Hopefully the firmware will be updated to not need that garbage.

Review-Dahua/EmpireTech Dual lens IPC-HDBW5441F-AS-E2 (The Boobie Cam Upgrade)

Has anyone found a better solution to the plugin problem? I've tried getting this setup from 2 different Win 10 computers. I don't have IE on either of them. I change most of the settings I need, but trying to setup IVS without the preview is an exercise in madness. My 5442 camera work fine in...

    160 open BI Ports?

Another option for remote access is a service such as ZeroTier. I like it because it's fairly simple to set up on devices, is very secure, and you can really have control over what devices can connect to each other. I shut down my router based VPN and now use this instead to access BI using the...

    5.9.11+ and Dahua 4MP cams

OK, I discovered something that seems to be related to or causing my issue. I had these two cams posting 640x480 pics to the www folder once per second so I could monitor them without launching the app. On the older versions of BI this did increase CPU usage slightly, but not to the extreme...

    5.9.11+ and Dahua 4MP cams

Yes, that's my plan for now. At some point I'll upgrade the machine, but don't have time right now and computer parts are a bit crazy at the moment. Probably upgrade my gaming rig and use the old one for BI. I'm mainly interested in the improvements they are making with AI (Deepstack) for my...

    5.9.11+ and Dahua 4MP cams

So first, I have said repeatedly, the cams I'm having this issue with are NOT using BI motion detection. Second, I've tested switching to h.264 many times and it had a negligible impact on CPU usage under normal circumstances on my antiquated CPU. I do appreciate the suggestion though.

    5.9.11+ and Dahua 4MP cams

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding something here, but doesn't direct to disk avoid re-encoding of the video streams? The acceleration would then only used in BI when transcoding (web playback, exporting etc). In any case, I tested switching the two cams to H.264 and it had a negligible impact for...

    5.9.11+ and Dahua 4MP cams

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, the 157 kB/sec camera was on variable bitrate and a tight angle scene that doesn't change much. Hence the low rate when I captured that. I played around with different encoding options and bitrates and while they did impact image quality they did not impact CPU...

    5.9.11+ and Dahua 4MP cams

That option doesn't seem to do anything on cams using the IVS system. That's why I need the digital input option checked. The ONVIF option does nothing in my setup and does not seem impact CPU use whether checked or not. Thanks though.

    5.9.11+ and Dahua 4MP cams

I'm not saying that the problem isn't with the cameras somehow, but I can't figure out why these two cams are different in regards to CPU use. I run h.265 on all cameras. I tried switching the 5442's to h.264 and it doesn't make much of an CPU impact that I can tell. All of my other cams are...

    5.9.11+ and Dahua 4MP cams

Well I guess I haven't tried physically disconnecting them from the network, but I have tried disabling cameras in BI. Makes little difference. With ONLY the 2 4MP dahua cams enabled (everything else disabled), CPU remains way too high. So 2 4MP cams not using any of the BI motion detection...

    5.9.11+ and Dahua 4MP cams

CPU was running a little higher when I grabbed this because wind was triggering one of my cams using BI motion triggers and DS. It was also taken running BI version 5.4.9.10. When I upgrade to anything newer without changing anything else it jumps to an average between 50-70% with frequent...

    5.9.11+ and Dahua 4MP cams

Here's the camera status page. The two Dahua cams are the Front Porch and Driveway. Two cameras, Master Bedroom and Basement, are only active when we're away.

    5.9.11+ and Dahua 4MP cams

Oh and since someone asked, the return time of DS GPU has been averaging around 200-250ms. So it doesn't seem to be struggling. I get that everyone thinks the system is old. I'll upgrade when I get time, but that's a major undertaking that I don't have resources for right now. Especially if I...

    5.9.11+ and Dahua 4MP cams

No offense, but I feel like my info isn't getting understood. Everything was working very smoothly until I updated to versions that came out the last couple of weeks. And it only affects the Dahua cameras. I can disable all of my other cameras and it persists with just the two. If I disable one...

    5.9.11+ and Dahua 4MP cams

i5-2300 with 16GB. Admittedly older, but as I said it was no where near maxed out just a few versions of BI ago. If major add-ons have taken place recently I guess that could do it. But the notes have mostly been about tweaks and fixes from what I recall.

    5.9.11+ and Dahua 4MP cams

Well it's an old Intel CPU with basic Quicksync. They haven't put out new drivers for it for years. But I also tried the 2 cams with several of the graphics accel options including "none" and it made little difference.

    5.9.11+ and Dahua 4MP cams

When I upgrade BI to anything above version 5.9.10 I start getting high CPU use without changing anything else. On 11 and previous versions my machine hovers around an average of 15-25% with 9 cameras all using substreams. When I try any version later than that my CPU goes up to 50-70% and often...

Who uses Dahua AI capable cameras? Reliable AI for triggering events? Pro's/con's?

Maybe I don't understand how to set it up, but it seemed to me that the AI function of Smart Motion was not functioning. Maybe it's broken? I'd imagine that the AI algorithm is the same as for IVS, just a difference in the triggering. But it should not be dramatically different than IVS...

Who uses Dahua AI capable cameras? Reliable AI for triggering events? Pro's/con's?

No, I did turn off video motion detection and smart motion when I enabled the IVS setup. Thanks for the IVS tips. I'll keep adjusting it. Has anyone gotten good results with the "Smart Motion" though? The firmware installed is V2.820.15OG001.0.R

Who uses Dahua AI capable cameras? Reliable AI for triggering events? Pro's/con's?

Can you elaborate on how you're setting it up? I don't mind a few false hits. But triggering every minute or two because a moth buzzed by (or even when the outside lights come on) makes it less useful.

Who uses Dahua AI capable cameras? Reliable AI for triggering events? Pro's/con's?

Follow up: Using "Appears" and unchecking "Cross" action seems to work somewhat. I'll try out your suggestion on moving the sides when I get a chance.

Who uses Dahua AI capable cameras? Reliable AI for triggering events? Pro's/con's?

How are you setting up these cameras for AI detection? I know some examples showed using IVS tripwires. I've been testing out different modes and rules and have been less than happy with anything other than tripwires. My goal is to be notified whenever a person enters an area. I started with the...

How are you getting to BI remotely?

I previously used a VPN but as others have commented, my Android phone kept disconnecting. It was also a bit of a pain to set up. I'm currently using ZeroTier. It's easy to set up and I can manage connections between specific devices whether or not they are on my home network.

Push notifications stop after Android update. Anyone else?

I have a Pixel 4a 5G and after the update, my notifications are taking WAY longer to be received (sometimes 30 seconds or more longer) and am no longer getting alert images.

    Triggered+continuous recording

Can you at least point me in the right direction then? What specific AI settings are you referring to? I read the help file on all of this and thought I had a handle on what the settings mean. But I must be missing the obvious.

    Triggered+continuous recording

Well it's still not working the way I'd like it to. When the AI detects a target object (person), the alert clip is exactly what I want. It starts playing the main stream a few seconds before the motion triggers and through the event. So I see the whole thing in high quality and a notification...

    Triggered+continuous recording

Very confusing wording. I read that to mean that when using AI to confirm alerts, it won't record the main stream until such confirmation. But thanks, I'll try it.
  29. K

    Triggered+continuous recording

I thought this option was added a few updates ago, but I'm not seeing it. I updated to the latest version today and still do not see it. There is a continuous + alerts option instead but that's not what I want for dual-stream recording. I want substream until a camera triggers, then switch to...

    Push notification pictures

Well I got this working. Not completely sure what fixed it as I had changed a few things. The last thing I did before it started working was to delete my phone from the mobile settings, shutdown and restart BI, then select and setup the phone again in BI. Not sure if that will help anyone else...
