bidens incredible transition to electric cars

Regarding physical buttons and knobs which are way more functional than screens (I can type better on an old Blackberry than touchscreen), many cars have voice control capability. Push a button, and tell it what you want... I've been meaning to get in the habit of using it more often.

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

I believe it was federal regulation that caused vehicle sizes to increase. The MPG requirements were based on wheelbase, so it created incentive to make larger cars that were allowed worse MPG. CAFE (California) is also a huge market that tends to dictate what vehicles get made for the rest of...

The latest iteration of Tesla's FSD is very good. I went from being constantly annoyed by it in previous versions, to preferring it. It still is dumb at parking and other things (it doesn't avoid potholes or small objects in the road), but incremental improvement will eventually deliver a system...

    Progressive Liberal Hypocrisy

I don't intend this comment at you in particular, and I'm being pedantic, but that isn't what liberalism is, it's just that Leftism has ruined the term like so many other things. Liberal is derived from the Latin word 'liber', which means freedom. It's why Libertarian has the same Latin root...

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

I missed this bit of news. On a tangent, my latest gas bill is $230. That's twice as much as normal for this time of year. I received a letter from Northwest Natural Gas (I need to dig it out so I can quote it verbatim), but it basically said they colluded with politicians to require a certain...

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

My fridge consumes about 2kWh per day and draws about 120w when it runs. That works out to 0.083 kWh every hour. My freezer consumes about 0.5 kWh and draws 40w when running. That works out to 0.021 kWh every hour. Divide the kWh rating of the battery by hourly kWh consumption of the thing...

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

If you're talking about highway 20, there are a ton of Tesla chargers in Detroit, and then again in Sisters, so needing a charge on either side is not an issue. Heading back down, an EV will use hardly any energy since you're mostly coasting and regenerating. I'll have to pay attention to see...

    Windscribe VPN Causes No Signal

Built a new PC and had to search for my solution again. It's like I'm incapable of learning. New PC is an Intel Core Ultra 5 245k, and the system runs at 3% CPU usage with 4 cameras. The system is also my Plex and file server... and my brother-in-law gave me his 'old' GPU, so it's a gaming rig...

    Electrical Inspection Wall Of Shame

I'd have gone with speaker wire with 2 blade terminals on the ends shoved into the socket instead of putting all the effort into that nonsense. If laziness is called for, go full lazy.

    Electrical Inspection Wall Of Shame

When there's an extended power outage, and you realize you can cut the socket end off an old extension cord and put another plug on it so you can hook your generator into an outlet of your choosing to energize the whole circuit. I would never... Instead I wired the cut end directly into the...

    Electrical Inspection Wall Of Shame

Well I'm doing everything wrong it seems. 6awg NM-B is the wrong wire because it has a 60 degree C rating, which de-rates it to 55 amps, which is less than the 60A breaker I need to run the 48A continuous circuit (the 80% rule). The bus will have a rating of either 200A or 225A for my 200 amp...

    Electrical Inspection Wall Of Shame

I'll add my own project to this thread. Didn't realize the panel only allowed tandems on the lower 5 slots when I tore into it. I did however get around to replacing the 4 circuit 20A quad breaker with proper 15A ones. Apparently my solar installer didn't have 15A tandems when he needed to...

    Die Young TikTok Craze

I used to invert a butane refill can and run a line across the kitchen, then light it. The whole kitchen would be on fire, for like 2 seconds. I've done much, much more dangerous things with fire. Not endorsing it, but the way to be competent with something is to survive the experimentation stage.

    Progressive Liberal Hypocrisy

I mean, organic farming can't be better, or the products would be more affordable. It takes up more land area than modern farming practices. There's not even a controlled definition of organic farming. All that is soon to be a moot point. Soon we'll have robots with frickin lasers providing...

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

That's the exact same thing I say about wind and solar. That said, 2+ car families with a garage to charge in probably are better off financially if one of the cars is an EV. Use the EV for commuting and grocery getting, and the gasser for longer trips.

    Die Young TikTok Craze

It's parent's responsibility to control what content their children consume. I know it's tough; my parents struggled with my behavior. I deserved every spank with a spoon mom ever gave, and every spank with a belt my dad administered. Who knows how much worse of a child I'd have been if they...

    Costco i3-1315U HP Laptop - $350

The famous HP Black Friday Costco deal appears to have come early. I type this on the 10th gen Intel laptop I bought in 2019 intending to use it for BlueIris. The 13th gen Intel i3 is on sale at Costco for $350 now...

I don't know who Rapinoe is, but based on the background it looks like he purchased a VW using his Visa, and wearing Nike shoes, and then insured the vehicle with Allstate. So if you're an effeminate looking man with bluish hair wanting a new car, consider applying for a Visa and getting some...

    Progressive Liberal Hypocrisy

I learned how to game weak leftist Oregon sensitivities early on. In high school a mandatory pep rally was announced, so I went to leave campus early to my job to earn money. A teacher stopped me on the way out asking where I'm going, and I answered "to work". As I proceeded, the teacher put...

    The 1st Amendment Thread

I don't think it was arbitrary that the 1st amendment came first. It's the most important, inalienable, self-evident (God-given) right. As Jordan Peterson says, the right to free speech isn't because it's important to say nasty things about others, but because that is how thinking works. The...
