Floodlight above or below the camera placement?

My apologies if this has been covered before. I searched but couldn't find a related thread. If anyone knows of a helpful link, it would be appreciated I have a hooded bullet cam just below the shallow angled roof peak ( no snow here) above my garage door to view the entire front yard and up...

Either make this as a POE model or don't waste my time.

I understand that it is a wonderful thing for many people for the reasons you list.. I just personally don't have a need for it. I don't have any status I feel the need share. I don't care to see what my cousin had for lunch yesterday. I don't feel the need to keep up with all the "drama"...

RJ45 plug recommendations for STP CAT 6 monoprice cable

To straighten out the untwisted wires I use the curved outside edge of the needle nose pliers to take out the curls. Any rounded item will do the same. I choose a rounded item so you'll be less likely to damage the wires. I place my thumb over the wires against the rounded edge with a bit of...

Using Lorex NVR on Sony TV using Sony approved tinyCam PRO app?

Update: Setup completed without issue. Using the discovery option, tinyCam found my NVR, along with bunch of other devices that weren't my NVR. I was then able to add both cams without issue. Live view uses software decoding. HW decoding didn't work. The frame rate is a bit of a slide show but...

Using Lorex NVR on Sony TV using Sony approved tinyCam PRO app?

@alexvas I've read all the threads here and googled as well but I'm unable to find the information I'm looking for. I have a LOREX NV916X NVR that currently has 2 Lorex onvif POE cams. More cams to be added soon. The TV is a Sony Bravia 900F series TV which is using an Android based OS 8.0.0...

    Stupid Question

Agreed. But you do unfortunately pay a price premium for plenum cable. The plenum cable I've dealt with is also noticeably stiffer which can be good or bad depending on the situation. :thumb:

    New Networking Rack...

The 4 mounting holes are 16" on center. So if they built his wall to standard dimension he should have 4 screws into 2 studs.

    New Networking Rack...

I understand what you mean about attics this time of year. I'll trade your SD attic for my FL attic this time of year any day. NIghtly prayer: "May my budget exceed my wants." Still waiting for that one to be answered.

I like that one for it's simplicity but I would prefer the hinged model... but not for2.5 times the price.

Wall-mounted rack - ideal entry point of 50+ cables

I suggest you'll want enough slack for every cable to reach from the top to the bottom of your rack while fully rotated that 180° at minimum. That way when you replace your current GB switch with some future new tech switch and it has to be mounted differently in the rack you'll have enough...

Wall-mounted rack - ideal entry point of 50+ cables

I've worked in numerous enterprise sized data centers over the years where the # of wires (electrical, fiber & CAT5/6) number in the thousands. A perfectly wired no slack left cabinet looks awesome until you have to trouble-shoot a bad cable. One thing I've learned is always plan for having...

I meant to say many people feel that I drink too much Dew. Personally I think it's just enough  I started on leaded Dew as a kid and miss the green bottles... tasted much better than cans or plastic, but decided I really didn't need that many empty calories per day. So when Diet Dew came...

Thanks. I'm making progress. I've got IP Cam Viewer app working on my Sony Bravia but when I try to add the port 2 cam it only duplicates the port 1 cam feed even though it's set to CH# 2. Baby steps, but I'm getting there. :)

Hello all. I stumbled across this forum googling for answers. I look forward to learning from all of you and perhaps someday will be able to be of help to someone else. I'm a 55yr old IT geek who decided to take his personal security to the next level with POE cameras for my home. Right or...
