Looking for advice on my install locations.

It's been set that way for a while. I think the justification was that the camera is following the person, instead of them walking across the FOV, so it lessens the chance of blurring. I just made the iris change after the incident with the kids. Previously it was 10-70. My biggest concerns...

Looking for advice on my install locations.

Change of gears, for now. Same project, just discussing a different camera. I decided to take a swing at my mini-PTZ settings since I have time before the sale and I haven't committed to a new, better PTZ yet. After last night, and with the added IR from both X3 cams, I am still on the fence...

What a Difference 10 Years Make in Camera Capability

I feel the same way. You may have already seen them, but these are captures from 2018 on my analog Lorex MPX system. Placement and IR bounce isn't ideal, but it's all come a long way. And now:

Camera thinks telephone pole is human

Could you make any contrast changes? That can help with PTZs.

Camera thinks telephone pole is human

My PTZ would always try it's damnedest to track my fire hydrant. It stopped when I changed the FOV. Could you possible black out portions of the the pole, and not the entire thing? Areas where it wouldn't compromise the FOV for actual captures?

Criminal spy camera inside Logitech mouse

Marvin Heemeyer spent 18 months up-armoring a Komatsu D355A bulldozer in his garage. Anyone with enough time and desire will get something done, regardless of knowledge or budget. It just depends on how creative they want to be.

Home Presentation Format... so we can have an efficient discussion about camera placement?

There was a post in the BI group on FB about this. Someone who knew better than everyone else could not comprehend the point you just made. After reading it again, I'm already starting to get pissed off about it. The starting focal length is the multiplier when talking about zoom. Focal Point...

Looking for advice on my install locations.

I think that's 8.33/50. I fiddled with it a little more before I called it a night, and it's currently set to 6.33/50. I never went back outside and had hoped someone would walk by with the new settings. After looking at my pictures, I may go back the other way with a higher exp and lower gain.

Looking for advice on my install locations.

Well, Andy updated his Refurb list and I grabbed 2 Z4Es to try on the back path. So I got that going for me, hopefully they work out. I messed with the X3 more last night, and I think I have it to a happy place that will be a compliment to a better PTZ. I may still make some adjustments, but at...

Home Presentation Format... so we can have an efficient discussion about camera placement?

Here is some something to get us started. Seeing someone is one thing, but identifying someone is another. Below are captures from my 2MP B52IR-X3 that has 3.6mm, 12mm, and 25mm focal lengths. The three lenses in the camera all point at the same spot. In this case, the guy is across the street...

Did anyone see the DAYTIME FIREBALL??

I just skimmed my footage. We have had rain on and off and it was cloudy to the south, but I am guessing I wouldn't have seen it anyways.

Looking for advice on my install locations.

I will need to get my IVS calls figured out in BI, which I think is doable now. Right now, I can't assign IVS rules to presets, they all go to one preset.

Looking for advice on my install locations.

That's sort of where I am. I have the X3s and I want to swap the PTZ, if this works, it works. If not, it's better than nothing and I can keep an eye out for refurb or used Z4Es later on.

Looking for advice on my install locations.

I don't plan to have the PTZ parked over the mailbox and would rather a dedicated view cover it, but mailbox coverage is not a requirement. It was just nice that the 3X offered coverage. I already have LPR and don't require face detection. If the TIOC Pro is a fixed focal length, I'm not...

Looking for advice on my install locations.

Here are my thoughts on my options (acknowledging the existence of the sunken cost fallacy). 3Xs and better PTZ Details: Keep the current 3X install and install my second 3X, looking the other way, crossing the driveway. Get the 3X quality as good as I can and accept that it will only be...

I bet a lot of you belong to the "HVAC crapped out at the worst time" club.

Got a call from my lady friend last night. She got home from work and her house was 81 degrees. Luckily it was just the capacitor and I was able to get one on short notice. I went ahead and ordered one to keep on the shelf for my house, because that's how the timing on these things work.

If it weren't for a couple of the trees, I would have more freedom with the upper level of the house, but planning around them, and their growth, limits me a bit.

Looking for advice on my install locations.

Yea, I like the look of my house, but the lack of gables complicates things like this and Christmas lights... I still have ethernet at the upper soffit location, so trying it there is still a possibility, but wanted to have a back up plan in case it was less than ideal. I would prefer it up...

I've thought about asking the neighbors if I could set up wireless bridges and hang cameras off of their houses, but I always figure they will say no... Here is the front of my house. The mini PTZ used to be in the corner with the green circle on the upper soffit. Here is a video with it...
