Review-IP Villa Outdoor Doorbell Station & Indoor Monitor Kit

Yeah, looks like I'll have to go and run the Config Tool through my Blue Iris PC box to do the updates for the doorbell. Be nice if they had these very basic of apps updated to work on a mac. Thanks!

Also odd that the app itself has no "about" info, so you can't even see which version you're currently running. All I know is I downloaded the one from the Dahua website today just to make sure it was the latest: Maintenance Tools. The current active link is for file...

Review-IP Villa Outdoor Doorbell Station & Indoor Monitor Kit

Anyone update the firmware on a mac? I typically use the Dahua ConfigTool app to update firmware on my other cameras, but for some reason the doorbell cam isn't showing up to be able to update and there's nowhere in the web interface to update the firmware like there is on other cameras. Am I...

Review-IP Villa Outdoor Doorbell Station & Indoor Monitor Kit

I should clarify, I was referring to the camera motion/sound alerts through Blue Iris. I haven’t looked into the ability to capture the button press or if it’s possible through BI, but definitely interested if someone figures that out.

Review-IP Villa Outdoor Doorbell Station & Indoor Monitor Kit

Jumping in as I just received and installed my VTO and VTH yesterday. Got it up and running pretty easily, few minor issues along the way which were solved with rebooting and at one point starting over. So I have the VTO and VTH communicating, can make a call from either side. Now that I (and...

    NVR vs Blue Iris

That’s great info, thanks! With the ssd my only real concern was the amount of slots available to fit two purple HD’s in there. I thought the ssd was taking up one of the slots and I’d have to remove it and be forced to install an NVMe. But good news for me that wasn’t the case and even better...

That’s pretty cool. I don’t believe there is one around me in CT. Although to be honest I never knew they existed before.

    NVR vs Blue Iris

That’s even better! Saves me from having to swap in an NVMe SSD and about $60. Covers the cost of blue iris

    NVR vs Blue Iris

I just pulled the trigger on eBay. Got it for $400 with a best offer. I think they were asking $430 or $450 so that was cool. EliteDesk 800 G5 i5, 16GB memory and 256 SSD. I’m sure it’s a regular SSD so I’ll have to remove it to get two purple drives in there, but it already came with 16GB...

    NVR vs Blue Iris

I know, at first it always starts as "up and running quickly" which for myself, almost always evolves into "well, might as well do it right the first time, you pay for what you get, etc.". So here we are haha. Solid point about the drives. Makes me lean towards an EliteDesk so I can have the...

    NVR vs Blue Iris

So this seems to be a good breakdown for my use: ~$300 or so shipped EliteDesk 800 G4 or ProDesk 600 G4, i5-8500, 16GB RAM, Windows 10 Pro - eBay ~$50 256GB NVME SSD - Ideally included from computer above. If not, not a dealbreaker to purchase and install to run OS and any other miscellaneous...

    NVR vs Blue Iris

Just saw a couple ProDesk's on eBay for even sub $300. So the difference between the EliteDesk and ProDesk is the ProDesk has less slots for hard drives? (**EDIT: answered my own question. Saw a reply on a thread from an HP rep: "EliteDesk has one 2.5" HDD and two 3.5" HDDs, while the ProDesk...

    NVR vs Blue Iris

This might be a dumb question but how do I know which gen the processor is while searching? I know they list the gen of the computers (G3 & G4) but wasn’t looking for processor generation, only “i5-8500”.

    NVR vs Blue Iris

Thanks! That definitely helps with my search. I’ve been going back and forth searching for “HP EliteDesk 800 G4 i5-8500” and “HP ProDesk 600 G4 i5-8500” on eBay. I originally searched for i7’s thinking they were more powerful but was informed the i5-8500 was a better processor.

    NVR vs Blue Iris

From specs I read on that same model on HP/eBay it listed a stick of 8GB ram (3 slots open for additional) and a 256GB SSD with room for a second hard drive. Yeah, this is still strictly for Blue Iris. I'm a mac guy and all set on personal computers.

    NVR vs Blue Iris

Thoughts on this one? For not much more, it looks like you can get a new one right from Amazon (from the HP store): https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Buy-EliteDesk-i5-9500-256GB/dp/B07W6R2H5B HP had it marked down to $579 but sold out...

    NVR vs Blue Iris

Yeah I don’t have much need for those, as long as it still runs the same and skips any extras to save a couple bucks that works for me.

    NVR vs Blue Iris

As a follow up, are there any major differences between the HP EliteDesk vs ProDesk? Assuming they have the same i5-8500 processor and memory and drives?

    NVR vs Blue Iris

Must have been a good deal, it’s already gone from eBay! I’ll jeep my eyes peeled for a desk pro like you mentioned. It’s going on top or next to my server rack, so I don’t need it to be tiny. I’d rather have the bigger case to fit two hard drives.

    NVR vs Blue Iris

That’s awesome, I’ll definitely turn on some alerts on my eBay account and jump in on any deals. Thanks for the info!

I did not know that, appreciate the info. Back to eBay I go to see what I can find.

    NVR vs Blue Iris

Ultimately I’ll have (6-7) 4MP 5442’s outdoors, (1) Dahua doorbell cam, and (4) 2MP 3241’s indoors. Currently I have (3) 3241’s indoor and (4) 5442’s outdoor but adding more in the very near future as I adjust coverage.

    NVR vs Blue Iris

Yeah I just searched eBay for a Dell Optiplex 7040 i7-6700, 3.4GHz. I can easily swap drives and memory but from what I’ve gathered this should be enough power for me for ~10-12 cameras. They look to run around $300 give or take with Windows 10 Pro installed. The WD purple HDD’s seem to be the...

    NVR vs Blue Iris

I have a couple parts to this question. Trying to figure out the best solution for my setup. I have 5 (could expand to 6-7 in the near future) outdoor cams and 4 indoor cams plus a doorbell cam. I'm trying to decide between the dahua NVR and investing in a full Blue Iris setup. I know Blue Iris...

    Indoor ceiling mounted cameras

Any issues with reflections off the dome? Varifocal would be nice however the 3.6mm should work for my space. Is there a camera similar to the 2231 but has a built in mic for audio? That would be ideal. Also, not sure if there are plastic body versions of these cameras? As they will be indoors...
