Reminds of the the Y2K fiasco, lot of people made money out of something that never happened.

I had the same on one of my Infrared cameras at night. It was caused by a wind vortex swirling dust around, it went away when I switched to Hikvision colourvu cameras.

My father in-law had a similar experience a few weeks back where his computer kept rebooting and the cameras dropped. We traced it back to a nick in the CAT5 cable, the wire was not broken, but a screw was touching the bared wire. After replacing the cable, everything went back to normal operation.
