    As a note, I'm able to access via remote using the administrator credentials, but not the "user" credentials that I added under the user management area.

    so on the video access screen I checked the box to Enable Security Checking, thinking this would pull in user names and passwords to authenticate streams. I then added the username and password to the stream url like this. rtsp://username:password@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/img/video.save but no go...

    ok, I've got it working just as you all described by the book. Added a port forward for 554 and she came right up via WLAN. So now, I need to password protect the stream and include those parameters in the URL?

    Yes, this screenshot is the camera config screen...I'll just leave it blank and try that url on VLC. Yes it's on a Mac. I'd read somewhere that I need to provide user and pass in URL when using RTSP? At work now, will try these things when I get home.
