Am I wasting my time with Amcrest/Foscam?

I have two Amcrest ProHD's connected thru wifi bridges to my main router. Connecting thru wifi to my router just wasn't stable enough a connection. I have no complaints about them. One "died" during a heavy storm (I know they aren't rated for outdoor use). But I resurrected it after rinsing...

    Blue iris and plex

I run BI and Plex on the same box (Optiplex 7010 SFF with I7 - forgot the CPU model). I only run 2 Amcrest ProHD wifi cameras on this. One running 10FPS and one running 15FPS. And all my video files are h.265, so Plex has to transcode to send to my Tivo's. I can easily stream 2 movies thru Plex.

Frame rate adjust automatically can't be turned off ?

I emailed BI about this happening, it seems the value for the auto FPS is a high water mark value of what it detected, not exactly what it's currently receiving. Try setting your camera to 10FPS, then "set" that in BI as well. Then increase the FPS in the camera to 15FPS. BI should "auto" up...

$99 Amcrest 1080p ProHD from Foscam

it's alive. 4 screws under each of the rubber feet, and one small black screw holding the circuit board on. I used some glass cleaner to wipe things down and a hair dryer to finish drying things. I plugged it back in, got a power light this time, nothing else Unplugged it and waited an hour...

any tips on popping the case open to get at the circuit board?

$99 Amcrest 1080p ProHD from Foscam

one thing about the Amcrest ProHD - it's not weatherproof. Of course, it's not advertised as such! I have one in my entryway, which is well protected from the weather. The other one under an eave in my backyard. I was hoping it would be protected enough from the weather to survive, but we...

cams/BI captured a-hole stealing my kids' xmas presents

it is kind of weird. Now that I have a camera setup to monitor my front door walkway, I notice about half of my deliveries - the person doesn't ring the bell. And it's not like they have to walk farther, they're already in the same area as the button.

BI changes Frame Rate settings on its own

I had distorted recordings as well. I assumed it was the higher FPS I saw in the Video tab, but it doesn't seem to be related directly. Sometimes, when it's higher, recordings are fine. When it gets weird (kind of like artifacting/ghosting), it seems to "fix" itself when I drop that FPS to...

BI changes Frame Rate settings on its own

I emailed support about this when I noticed it. We're talking about the framerate in the Video tab, right? From what I gather with their responses, this is a cosmetic issue. It seems to reset to the highest FPS value it receives from the camera (how is my camera sending more than what I set...

BI not working as expected on new computer

I could have sworn that's a setting in BI, where if you're using RDP, it uses a lower refresh rate for the video, but you could change it. I think I read that implication in another post. I get an unable to open file once in a while, and if I just wait or reboot, it works.

BI not working as expected on new computer

since you already have the export files try deleting all the cameras and re-adding them one at a time (I'm a novice with BI, but this is a troubleshooting step I'd take)

the other pro to Blue Iris vs a dedicated NVR, one less device if you already have a beefy enough workstation that's on 24/7. I already had a media PC, so I upgraded that to a new one with a CPU beefy enough to handle my torrents, Plex Server, a Win7 virtual machine, as well as Blue Iris.

    BI Support Plans

I was going to ask about a roadmap, then I searched and found it. FYI: A roadmap has been set for the next several years of version 4.x development. Based on your feedback, time will be invested into items such as motion tracking, further enhancement of motion detection along with the use of...

    BI Support Plans

one thing he'll have to figure out is where to store all the different versions when/if he goes to this model. If I purchase BI4 and after a year, I'm at version 4.1.9 and I don't get extended support, if I have to reinstall, how do I get to 4.1.9? Will there be a base version - 4.0.0 to...

    BI Support Plans

personally, I don't think he should do this, it'll just fragment the versions out there even more. I don't mind paying for the major updates every few years. Does anyone know what extended support pricing is? I'd hate to also get extended support, then a new major version comes out. Unless...

BI 3 and 4 on same machine

the issue is that every so often, motion recordings start showing a ghosting/artifacting effect for the moving object I have my camera (Amcrest ProHD) set to 15FPS. I noticed that when this happens, if I got to the Video tab for the camera, it shows an FPS of 17 (while the General tab is...

BI 3 and 4 on same machine

yeah, but troubleshooting something with 4 and want to see if I get this issue in 3 as well. I've been on 4 for a little bit (never had time to install 3) and going to 3, wow, it's such a dramatic change.

BI 3 and 4 on same machine

Before I try, does anyone know if I can install both versions (I have licenses for both) on the same machine and each function normally? I wouldn't run them both at the same time, but I'm running some tests and it'd make it easier to switch between the two. thanks!

    Backing up Clips

easiest thing to replace/test is the router. Otherwise, do you have a Windows laptop? Turn on sharing, then try storing over the network to that. If that works, then BI is working. To me, there's going to be some solution for you that's not too expensive. And since you've had your place...

    Backing up Clips

is it possible for you to temporarily move the router next to the computer? And how is the computer connected? Wired or wireless?

    Backing up Clips

you would still have choppy playback in the attic storage, so unless your BI machine is secured, you still have the original problem of a thief taking the computer.

Cannot get clips to move to NAS

I know I have enough storage, so I don't need to monitor for space. I suggested that as just a test to eliminate that as something BI might not like with your NAS. I have it set to move to my Drobo NAS, so the SMB UNC convention is fine for Blue Iris. You might want to do a simple test -...

Cannot get clips to move to NAS

try checking the box to not monitor for free space. Also, test by creating an archive folder on the local drive and verify things work that way. That will help you narrow things down. Do you have permissions locked down on your Synology? BlueIris is running under the local System account...

    Concerns with BI missing motion

can't you go out there and walk around like the delivery guy to test? I did that, but I walked around with my laptop to see what was happening.

    Concerns with BI missing motion

I just started with BI, but just try doubling that value and then test and see what happens.

    Concerns with BI missing motion

on the record tab, Pre Trigger Video Buffer Frames, increase this (experiment and test until you get what you want). I have mine set to 50 for a 15FPS camera and that's getting what I want.

Immediate Clip Download to diff Drive

you want to keep the original clips on the C drive too? If not, couldn't you just specify the USB as the storage? Otherwise, as Fenderman suggested to a similar question I made, you can export the setting for your current camera and import it as a new camera (give it a new name), so it'll be...

    Do I need virus protection?

You are probably going to be safe. But I would still at least install Microsoft Security Essentials on it as well as MalwareBytes anti malware. Just disable both, then just do a scan once a month or so. You need to worry about other machines (your's or guests) on the same network that could...
