I think the support for the camera is aluminium, the whole body is. The pole is made of concrete. It's actually made from parts from an 4U rack, I took the rear 19" "rails" (Like these http://www.allmetalparts.co.uk/c/15-category/network-rail-rack-strip-audio.jpg), made a little custom metal frame and fixed both to the ceiling leaving 19" of space in between. It was cheap and just works. :)...

The camera motion detection didn't work very well(Synology's fault probably), so I just went with the Surveillance Station detection. I'm using Sensivity 96 and Thresold 6 for my cameras, that gave me best results. It's not very good but it works, It's sure not worth what synology tries to...

Did you try to apply this 5.2 firmware using TFTP or how? The latest cameras I've bought are all 5.2 and english already, so no experience with what you're describing.

Once you have the recovery software running on a PC on the same subnet with the correct IP address and the firmware image you want to apply, you can power them off and then on one at a time, each on of them will then download the file from the TFTP and apply the older firmware. The problem is...

Haven't found any version where it doesn't work. Just remember that it has to be updated through tftp firmware recovery.

I'm not exactly sure, so if anyone else can provide feedback on this. My two cameras with firmware 5.2.0 lose conection for 5 minutes every two or three days. A firmware bug maybe? Is anyone else having this issue? I'm using both cameras with a Synology NAS, if that makes any difference.

Isn't the NVR POE? In that case to shut a camera off just unplug the network cable. After the firmware "recovery" using TFTP the camera will revert to the factory config (including IP). I know it looks like a massive pain, but a firmware recovery isn't exactly ment to be easy, it hardly needs to...

How are you powering the devices? AC adaptors? In that case turn off the circuit breaker, it doesn't matter how you do it, you just need to turn them off after rebooting and doing the firmware update.
