Is it possible to unmute audio by default on Hikvision NVR?

So I have a Hikvision DS-7608NI-K2 (Firmware Version: V4.32.115) that I'm setting up for an elderly person and I'm trying to make it as foolproof as possible for them to view their cameras on their living room TV. All the cameras have built in microphones and they will want sound to play (it's...

How Do I Use A Dahua Camera With A Hikvision NVR?

Ok so I struggled getting a Dahua camera to work on a Hikvision 7608NI-K2 NVR (firmware V4.71.005). I think I figured out why people are running into password errors. The Hikvision NVR only seems to accept a max password length of 16 characters for the cameras! My Dahua user password was set to...

Hikvision NVR - Is it possible to lock a recorded file remotely via IVMS or Web?

I know it's possible to lock a section of recording (so that it doesn't get overwritten) directly via the NVR interface, but does anyone know of a method to lock a recording via IVMS or the web interface? I have a remote location setup with 4G. Downloading recordings over 4G obviously uses a...

How to choose Compatible HikVision NVR

I think all Hikvision NVRs should work with Hikvision cameras for the rudimentary function of recording etc. It's the more specialised features/functions you need ensure are compatible/available if you want to be able to use them. My advise (as someone who is relatively new to this too) would...

Hikvision DS-7108N-SN/P NVR Stuck at Boot/Splash Screen Need to Extract Footage

No I never thought to try that, sounds like a good idea though. If I get chance I might test this method out as it would be handy to know.

Hikvision DS-7108N-SN/P NVR Stuck at Boot/Splash Screen Need to Extract Footage

:lmao: I think I've learnt that a farmers definition of a "watertight" building is a bit less rigorous than most!

Hikvision DS-7108N-SN/P NVR Stuck at Boot/Splash Screen Need to Extract Footage

So went ahead and purchased a DS-7108NI-E1/8P from Amazon. Very pleased to say that I put the hard drive in and can access all the old footage from the damaged NVR :) Also it seems the firmware is better on this international version (not sure if it's just because its a newer firmware), the...

Hikvision DS-7108N-SN/P NVR Stuck at Boot/Splash Screen Need to Extract Footage

Many thanks for your help. This is the one I found on eBay, the listing is a complete mess though - the item specifics mention DS-7108NI-E1/8P, but the description mentions DS-7108NI-SN (however afaik that's a non POE model and title clearly states POE), also the second image they used is of a...

Hikvision DS-7108N-SN/P NVR Stuck at Boot/Splash Screen Need to Extract Footage

Sorry to bother you again Alastair, but I cannot seem to source the exact model (DS-7108N-SN/P) NVR from a UK seller (they literally just ran out of stock). I can find this model though: DS-7108NI-E1/8P I believe it's just the international version of the same NVR? Do you think this would be...

    Ip camera mass viewing question

I delved into this a little. A good free option is broadcasting to YouTube Live, however they don't directly accept RTSP feeds (protocol IP cameras use) so you need to convert it to a RTMP feed first. You could try FFmpeg (I didn't have much luck with this) or OBS Studio (had better luck with...

Hikvision DS-7108N-SN/P NVR Stuck at Boot/Splash Screen Need to Extract Footage

Woohoo that's great to hear :) I don't suppose you would know whether any Hikvision NVR will work? I'm tempted to get a nicer model.

Hikvision DS-7108N-SN/P NVR Stuck at Boot/Splash Screen Need to Extract Footage

Hi Alastair, Thanks for stopping by. Yes it was a Chinese version with hacked firmware. As far as I know the firmware I tried loading was meant to be the correct Chinese->English one I needed (found it on this forum). Also just tried the stock Chinese one you linked (many thanks), but had the...

Hikvision DS-7108N-SN/P NVR Stuck at Boot/Splash Screen Need to Extract Footage

As a last ditch effort I cleaned up the water damage as best I could and tried flashing firmware via TFTP (connected via switch), seems to connect correctly but never finishes the last step shown in the examples ('system update completed' message) even when left for 15min+. It gets this far...

Hikvision DS-7108N-SN/P NVR Stuck at Boot/Splash Screen Need to Extract Footage

I don't know to be honest, but the NVR was on a table-top in a hayloft type room of a farm building. I was told it was completely water-tight but I'm guessing it's not. Probably some drips from the roof during heavy rainfall :(

Hikvision DS-7108N-SN/P NVR Stuck at Boot/Splash Screen Need to Extract Footage

Finally got my hands on the NVR… I think it's safe to say I found the source of the issue, the PCB has some nasty water damage (see attached pic). Weird that it was somehow working up until it was switched off. I don't suppose anybody knows whether putting the hard drive in another Hikvision...

Hikvision DS-7108N-SN/P NVR Stuck at Boot/Splash Screen Need to Extract Footage

Have a Hikvision DS-7108N-SN/P NVR (firmware V3.0.13) that won't boot past the boot/splash screen. On the connected monitor all you see is the message "Embedded NVR" with Hikvision logo. I set this NVR up for a family member at a remote location. They had a break in recently and caught footage...

Using VPN to access cameras behind carrier grade NAT (3G/4G)

Cheers @gmaster1, yes I would love to have a reason to experiment with some long range wireless bridges but unfortunately there are some stonking great hills in the way :( I noticed in that other thread you said the modem/router was $25, I guess that was a typo then?

Using VPN to access cameras behind carrier grade NAT (3G/4G)

Thanks for stopping by @gmaster1 I really appreciate your advice, I loved those little 4G box setups you made: 4G LTE setup Out of curiosity what modem/router did you use in those? Yes the cams will be several hours from me and are at some remote farm buildings. I'm not doing this...

Using VPN to access cameras behind carrier grade NAT (3G/4G)

I don't suppose you know if the Hik-Connect service worked when viewing via a mobile device connected via 3G/4G (not wifi)? I seem to remember that was what I struggled to get working before, i.e I could remote view when the viewing device was connected to a WiFi connection but not when out and...

Using VPN to access cameras behind carrier grade NAT (3G/4G)

That's good to know that the cloud service worked well for you :) I remember trying the EZVIZ service a while ago but didn't like it and it seemed a little flaky, but to be fair I didn't test for long. I think Hikvision now recommend that you use their Hik-Connect portal so maybe that's better...

Using VPN to access cameras behind carrier grade NAT (3G/4G)

Actually nothing as of yet, but if I go down the VPN route I think this is what I would do: Equipment: NETGEAR 4G Modem LB1110-100EUS Decent router with OpenVPN support Services: Install OpenVPN on VPS server (vultr.com - plans from $2.50/month, install/deploy OpenVPN in one-click) Setup...

So ... low cost 4G camera (small) review

I'm not sure if that 4g router is a good choice. You are going to need to setup a VPN in order to access your cameras remotely (unless you can get a sim card with a public IP address). The router needs to be able to run a VPN client. I don't think that router has VPN support, most of the 4G...

IP Camera stream Directly to Youtube

Handy tutorial but it's not really streaming directly to YouTube, you are using a computer in the middle to transcode the RTSP stream to RMTP.

Yes that should be correct. Out of curiosity how long is the cable run?

How would I hook up this mic to my camera?

Hmm looks like your camera actually requires 24V AC when not using POE (the splitter provides 12V DC). I'm not sure what the best solution is here. This splitter seems to provide both POE & 12V DC output: (POE-MSPLT-4812P) Mini Splitter 802.3af/at or passive 48 POE In, 12VDC 15W Out but it's...

How would I hook up this mic to my camera?

The POE splitter splits the power/data into two separate sources, so the ethernet cable coming out of the splitter is no longer carrying POE, that's why the camera now needs the separate power source. That microphone I recommended passes the power through it, so you plug the power from the...

How would I hook up this mic to my camera?

Looks like your camera doesn't have a power connector fitted (just bare wires again), so you also need to attach a female connector. Something like one of these: https://www.amazon.com/JacobsParts-Female-Screw-Connector-Electronics/dp/B01N26XKT3/ You'd think a $800 camera would come with...

How would I hook up this mic to my camera?

Here's what you will need: POE Splitter Pass-through Powered Microphone RCA Connector/Adaptor You'll also need a waterproof junction box to hide all this extra stuff in. There is a specific one for your model of camera, but I can't tell if it's large enough for the job. Something like this...

    I would like .... PTZ, (auto)tracking ...

The Dahua SD49225T-HN power consumption is listed as 13W (day), 20W (night) and I would guesstimate a modem/router would be another 10–20W on top of that. The 4G camera has a listed power consumption of 3W (day), 8W (night) so yeah it's certainly better power consumption wise :)
