Okay thanks for that, I've increased the settings to use a constant bitrate (8192) and harmonised the settings between cameras and the NVR, all seems okay so far. I'll monitor over the next day or so.... -

Okay I should have mentioned I guess :) The NVR is model DS-7608NI-K2 / 8P, the three cameras we have are: DDS-2CD2087G2-L(U). The NVR seems to be handling the camera I've changed (i.e. it still looks okay in the HIK Connect app). Are there any recommended settings? -

A quick question guys, our ColourVu cameras (and NVR) were set up by a third party installer. The cameras were set up on medium quality video and bitrate 2560. Can it cause any problems if I change the settings to 4096 bitrate and video quaity to highest? I've changed one of the cameras... -

It's a Synology NAS model DS918+ I can't see a way of adding a secondary IP address into the NAS system. NAS Ethernet connection configurations. Only the '202' port is used. For test purposes I did try to add the NVR network onto the Mac: I think I may have done something wrong though...- tekguru

So just to double-check, if the subnet mask was changed to 255.255.0.0 on the main home network (192.168.1.xxx) the routers in the mesh network, NAS, Mac, phones, etc would all still work fine. The NVR / camera network (192.168.254.xxx) would all be able to talk to one another. If that did work...- tekguru

Right I'm with you now. I think I'll have to give up on the project then. The NVR is upstairs in the wife's home office and we had external trunking installed to link that via Ethernet to the cameras and round the house to a network port I've connected to the router. So there is no way...- tekguru

Thanks for clarifying, gateway address now set and the virtual host was set already.
