Firmware for HIKVision NVR & Cameras

Hmm that does give me cause to hold off for a while. The cameras are one generational update behind but the NVR looks to be three firmware updates behind. The main reason I'm looking to upgrade is to get the video interface working in modern chromium browsers,

    HIK-Connect on the iPhone?

Hi guys a couple of questions concerning HIK-Connect on the iPhone. 1) Download videos from the NVR I don't think this is possible but I thought I'd post the question just in case I've missed anything..... On the iOS HIK-Connect app to search for a video portion and download it to the phone...

Firmware for HIKVision NVR & Cameras

Okay, we've had our HIK Vision CCTV system installed for 19 months now and I thought it'd be wise looking at firmware updates.... The NVR is a DS-7608NI-K2 / 8P and the three cameras are all DS-2CD2087G2-LU models. The NVR Firmware details are: Firmware Version: V4.30.011 build 200803...

    Video setting on camera

Okay thanks for that, I've increased the settings to use a constant bitrate (8192) and harmonised the settings between cameras and the NVR, all seems okay so far. I'll monitor over the next day or so....

    Video setting on camera

Humph it cost us enough. We do only have three cameras though. I've just checked the settings on the NVR for each of them, and they all vary. They are set as: The cameras again look to differ and are set as per:

    Video setting on camera

Okay I should have mentioned I guess :) The NVR is model DS-7608NI-K2 / 8P, the three cameras we have are: DDS-2CD2087G2-L(U). The NVR seems to be handling the camera I've changed (i.e. it still looks okay in the HIK Connect app). Are there any recommended settings?

    Video setting on camera

A quick question guys, our ColourVu cameras (and NVR) were set up by a third party installer. The cameras were set up on medium quality video and bitrate 2560. Can it cause any problems if I change the settings to 4096 bitrate and video quaity to highest? I've changed one of the cameras...

Access live stream from camera direct, through HIKVision NVR?

It's a Synology NAS model DS918+ I can't see a way of adding a secondary IP address into the NAS system. NAS Ethernet connection configurations. Only the '202' port is used. For test purposes I did try to add the NVR network onto the Mac: I think I may have done something wrong though...

Access live stream from camera direct, through HIKVision NVR?

The devices that need to talk are Cameras, NVR, and NAS (Scrypted is hosted within Docker on the NAS). The cameras are wired to the NVR, the NVR is connected via wired Ethernet (externally round the house in trunking) directly into the main Orbi router. The NAS is connected via ethernet into the...

Access live stream from camera direct, through HIKVision NVR?

So just to double-check, if the subnet mask was changed to 255.255.0.0 on the main home network (192.168.1.xxx) the routers in the mesh network, NAS, Mac, phones, etc would all still work fine. The NVR / camera network (192.168.254.xxx) would all be able to talk to one another. If that did work...

Access live stream from camera direct, through HIKVision NVR?

I can connect to the camera's web portal with no problems at ll using a web browser, VLC won't connect to any stream I've tried to configure. Okay so the NVR is set as: Are you saying changing the Subnet Mask from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.0.0 would allow the NVR and the cameras...

Access live stream from camera direct, through HIKVision NVR?

Right I'm with you now. I think I'll have to give up on the project then. The NVR is upstairs in the wife's home office and we had external trunking installed to link that via Ethernet to the cameras and round the house to a network port I've connected to the router. So there is no way...

Access live stream from camera direct, through HIKVision NVR?

Yep I set the default gateway and the camera is still working LOL The static route is set as follows: I still can't connect to the camera though. If I try to ping it from my Mac I get:

Set as per this, I'm wondering should the DNS server be set to my router?

Access live stream from camera direct, through HIKVision NVR?

Thanks for clarifying, gateway address now set and the virtual host was set already. I can now ping the camera and get responses from PINGing the camera although not ones I'd want: dbrewood@Mac-Mini ~ % ping -c 20 192.168.254.4 PING 192.168.254.4 (192.168.254.4): 56 data bytes Request timeout...

Access live stream from camera direct, through HIKVision NVR?

Right, so you are saying that This should be set to my routers default gateway? That should fix things without breaking the camera?

Access live stream from camera direct, through HIKVision NVR?

Good to know what I have set is correct. :) I'm actually trying to set up Scrypted on my NAS (within Docker) so I can add my cameras into the Apple Homekit system. For that I need to use an rtsp feed which is viable. I can access the streams on the NVR using a stream such as...

Access live stream from camera direct, through HIKVision NVR?

Okay thanks for the reply, I'm a newbie to all of this. The NVR is set as: The camera I'm testing with is set as: I'm not sure what I need to 'you need to configure the cameras to use the NVR PoE interface as the gateway'. I can access the web logon for the camera without any problems...

Access live stream from camera direct, through HIKVision NVR?

Hi guys it looks like I've got the same issue here. Hoping someone more knowledgeable than myself over networking can help. My cameras are on a separate network hosted on the NVR (192.168.254.x) from my main network. The main network is 192.168.1.x with the NVR itself being 192.168.1.77. To try...
