New 16 camera system needed for small shop...

Making CAT cables of my own is not a problem. I have all the tools and testers (from another life). Thanx. :)

I was just watching @nayr and his "walk-in-the-yard" videos. Pretty impressive quality.

New 16 camera system needed for small shop...

I worked with a fellow employee who returned a sofa, 8 years later... because... she didn't like it anymore. Costco took it. (Totally wrong in my book - FYI)

I'm told I should talk with you about a 16 camera system. See thread: https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/new-16-camera-system-needed-for-small-shop.17005/ Perhaps you could suggest something. Thanx in advance, Jim

New 16 camera system needed for small shop...

Yeah, this stuff was bought several years ago, and sat for a few years before I came along and installed them... and that was at least 5 years ago. I'm not interested in any refund value. In fact, I look forward to chucking them in the dumpster. Soon.

New 16 camera system needed for small shop...

All existing camera locations are good. It's just the quality of these existing cameras that is poor. Exterior cameras are at the top of the building eaves (about 16 feet off the ground) and work well as positioned. Two at the rear of building, one on each side (viewing the yard gates), and two...

New 16 camera system needed for small shop...

Hey guys, it's been a while since I was hanging out here on this forum... too many other issues in life have taken priorities. My 7 home cameras (Amcrest) and my home built BlueIris Server are working fine. I've thrown away the cheap chinese PTZ I was playing with. But now I have a new...

WD Red vs WD Purple vs others

Started to water cool my Server, got some parts (radiators, fans, etc...), but then I decided I was going overboard. Still... would have been fun to complete. Got my inspiration from this: Awesome.

WD Red vs WD Purple vs others

It's a Lian-Li case (343-B) that was never available in the U.S. so I found and ordered one from Norway. Even with the shipping it was a great deal and worked perfectly into the plans I had for a Large Plex Server (You'll find me hanging out on the Plex Forums often as well). I really love the...

This camera just looks like fun...

One thing I did try was to cut off any excess Cat5 I had in the attic (I had left enough that if the sun-exposed portion of the route got brittle, I could just pull some out of the attic vent and reconnect). This made the final cable only about 22 feet... but it still didn't work. Even with...

During the bench test, I used the splitter/injector that is currently being used on another camera and is working there with no problems. In all situations the signals passed through the same switch. I'd love to think it was the cabling, but I'm currently using that cable on that camera with...

Tried Preset 95 on mine too... no luck. The documentation on these import cameras is minimal at best, so finding this kind of backdoor might be a pipe dream. But I'll keep looking. Where my camera is mounted I could really use the extra few degrees of tilt, so I can capture some great backyard...

This camera just looks like fun...

So... got it working this evening. I took the power supply up on the roof with an extension cord and eliminated the Passive Injector/Splitter and the camera came to life, found its reserved IP address and showed up in Blue Iris. I then took the Injector/Splitter that I was using and put it on a...

Tipping your servers is a bad idea!

That's not a wall... those are raised floor panels. The servers must have tipped when one or more of the floor panels collapsed. You can see the panel legs near the bottom of the server. That's my guess.

Blue Iris Remote View... Can I open straight to a specific Camera?

Tried that, but didn't work. I'll take a closer look at the Server help file when I get home. Thanx.

Blue Iris Remote View... Can I open straight to a specific Camera?

Yeah, I have the cell phone thing already figured. But I'd like something on my PC desktop at work, and haven't found anything that isn't a full blown program... like BI Remote View.

Blue Iris Remote View... Can I open straight to a specific Camera?

I use Blue Iris Remote View from work to keep an eye on my wife at home (No... I'm not over-possessive... she is ill). Obviously it opens to the main login page, but from there is there a way to have it specifically go to a default camera? Or perhaps there is a URL that I can put in the browser...

Totally obscure question... about 360 degree "Action" cameras...

After several years of hiatus, I'm contemplating getting back into motorcycling (now with my son, old enough to ride with me). I'd like to document some of our rides together, so I'm thinking of purchasing an "Action" camera. I was researching something of the GoPro nature, but then I saw some...

Ptz 20x imporx no lan anymore

I don't get any light at all (I am referring to the light on my network switch where the device is plugged in). I am also expecting that my problem is voltage/amperage related and have yet to be able to test that theory. Hope to be back on the roof today doing some troubleshooting.

Ptz 20x imporx no lan anymore

I'm wondering if this might be my problem too... I have the same camera and a similar problem. PTZ motion occurs on startup... but no LAN signal at all: https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/10392-This-camera-just-looks-like-fun?p=103904#post103904 I'll be trying a few things tomorrow.

This camera just looks like fun...

I'm going to move the power supply from the attic to the roof and test this theory. If the camera works... then I really like your idea of boosting to a 14-15v power supply (I'll put it back in the attic). I have no PoE devices in my setup so far, and don't want to go that route just for this...

This camera just looks like fun...

Yeah, it's not a PoE camera, so I used a pair of these to carry the 12v: I think they are adding to the problem. Step one will be to retrieve the Power supply (a box not a wart) from the attic and move it closer to the camera... bypassing these splitters entirely. If the camera dances, and...

This camera just looks like fun...

I was thinking that also. I have to go into the attic to get the Power Supply, then I think I'll take it up on the roof with an extension cord and test at the camera. I was worried that the 40' of Cat5e travel might have created the problem. When tested on the bench I only had a 6 foot cable...

This camera just looks like fun...

Got up on the roof last Monday... mounted camera... ran 40 feet of Cat5e cable... hooked up to Netgear switch in attic... camera did its dance (it's getting power)... but no IP signal. Nothing on the network indicates the camera is active. Can't find it on the router. Also ran an IP search...

I hope to get this camera off my garage bench and out on the side of the house this holiday weekend. Taking my wife to a doctors appointment today... that will determine the rest of the weekend. Thank you for your concern (and the bump). :)
