The Importance & My Recommended Usage of I-Frame, CBR vs VBR, Shutter Speed In Your Configurations

Cool, thanks! That makes sense to me. I'll take that trade off any day of the week.

The Importance & My Recommended Usage of I-Frame, CBR vs VBR, Shutter Speed In Your Configurations

Ahhh. I wonder if that's why I saw a spike in storage? Out of the box my camera's were using 500mb/hour per camera(6). After getting my camera's dialed in with the recommended setting around here, my storage is now using ~4gb/hour per camera. I'm at 576gb per day. Is that mainly because I...

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

Ok will do. I’ll worry about AI down the road then. I saw another post that said Blue Iris is asking if you want to install CPAI at the same time which got me thinking.

I’ll be setting up Blue Iris in the next couple days for a brand new install. Sounds like I should go with CPAI from the get go, eh?

I came to the same conclusion. :) I just placed an order for all the camera hardware. I also ordered a refurbished HP ProDesk I5-8500 computer to run my 6 new camera's with Blue Iris with a WD Purple 8TB drive. The amount of information here is incredible and I've learned a ton thanks to you...

Hey thanks for the office drop idea and also letting me bounce ideas off you. I think that is 100% the play. Isolated network which means it's secure and an added bonus that my regular network would never get bogged down with camera traffic.

Technically I could have the guys running ethernet to the camera's drop a new line to my office which would feed to the media hub. What do you think about this? New line drops to the office, NIC2 connects to the wall which feeds directly to the POE switch that only has the camera's on it. BI...

Interesting about phoning home. I have a mesh network so 1 main Orbi router with 2 satellites. Fiber modem is in the media hub which is hard wired to a port in the family room where the main router is. The Orbi satellites then connect via a wireless backhaul and each satellite has 4 ports on the...

I just realized that a 2nd NIC might not work in my setup. Let me run this by you guys. I want to have all my camera ethernet lines drop to a media hub in my utility room where I'm going to install the POE switch. My BI computer would be in my office hard wired to an Orbi satellite unit. I'm...

I will not be port forwarding. I’m going to take other peoples advice and use a 2nd NIC on the BI computer. Thank you for the confirmation. That’s what it was looking like from all my research but couldn’t confirm 100%.

I feel like I’ve tumbled down Alice in Wonderland’s tunnel. ;) Can someone let me know how Blue Iris notifications work when you’re away from the house. Say I’m away and I get sent a message. Am I able to view that directly from the Blue Iris mobile app or do I have to VPN from my phone before...

I was just reading your review on another thread. Good stufff. I can’t seem to find a good POE doorbell camera. Here’s a picture of my entryway. Ceiling mounted would be preference since we have a stucco house. The height is 9ft though which is obviously too high for facial recognition. Our Ring...

Funny you mention wife approval. I’m totally ok with a full size turret but she would rather it be more discreet if possible. And they say size doesn't matter. Pfff ;)

Do you guys prefer a turret camera at the front entrance or a doorbell camera?

Crazy what a day of research will lead you to. A couple days ago I was leaning towards the 5442-ZE + traditional NVR. Today I’m in full Blue Iris mode spec’n out computers. What have you guys done to me? :lmao:

Blue Iris has me intrigued as it sounds like it could be a fun adventure since I’m in IT. However, my wife is constantly using the Ring app so I need a system that she doesn’t get frustrated with. That is my dilemma right now.

Hey everyone, I stumbled onto this place as I kept researching cctv systems. I got further down the rabbit hole and here I am. Just when I thought I was at the finish line, I'm now back to the beginning of my quest. :) I currently have ring cameras setup around the house but looking to upgrade...
