Thanks for the replies.
So there is no other advantage to running a 4MP camera at 2560 × 1440 other than potentially max higher FPS, and true 16:9 ratio.
I figured out why the WDR was not working: it was because the image is rotate by 90 or 270 degrees.
(The WDR can only be enabled for 0 or 180 degrees mirrored or not)
The 5442 does not have this limitation. So something to keep in mind.
Maybe this will help others
I have a mix of Dahua 4MP cameras (1 IPC-HDW5442TM-AS-LED and a couple IPC-HDW2439TP-AS-LED-S2)
In the resolution drop down for the main stream I have
2688 × 1520
2560 × 1440
and lower
Which resolution should I use? Which one is the actual "native" camera resolution?
What I noticed is that...
Thanks for the suggestion, but Windows 10 says it is already using the latest driver. Any idea which "latest" version is good?
BTW, the Object Detection (YOLOv5 .NET) 1.14.0 seems to work fine now. It's just the Object Detection (YOLOv5 6.2) 1.10.0 that gives the Python error.
I haven't done...
I have a freshly installed (licensed) BlueIris 5 setup and it suggested to use CodeProjectAI. Since this is on a beefier machine, i decided to give it a try.
I installed CodeProject.AI-Server_2.9.5_win_x64 with the default options which installed 3 modules:
Face Processing 1.12.3
Object...
Why does the image say 49m54s? I there something in the config that caused it to create an image instead of making a video?
When I open the 32MB bvr file, I get the same behavior: nothing happens, it's like I'm looking at a still picture
Normally I am able to play most video alerts just fine in BlueIris, but every once in a while (usually when something interesting happens), I cannot figure out how to playback the video.
I have this (AI confirmed) alert that has a 49m54s video, that I just can't playback either via the web or...
For the Canadian channels, I just used Wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels#5_GHz_(802.11a/h/n/ac/ax)
Channel 48 in Canada is Indoor, in US is both Indoor and Outdoor.
I mounted the camera outside. The 5GHz was too weak for the camera to use it. In fact I find the...
Thanks for the reply.
I tested with a 5G only AP 1m away from the camera. The camera does not see it in the list.
After playing with various channels, the camera accepted to connect to the 5GHz Wi-Fi when it was on channel 157.
The screen doesn't show the 5G WiFi that it is connected to in the...
Do you still have the camera? I got the Canadian version (IPC-L46N-CAN) and for the life of me I cannot get it to see any 5GHz Wi-Fi. Did you ever try to use 5G, can you post a picture of the Web UI that shows where you can change the Frequency in the settings?
This is the WiFi page I see...
I ended up buying one (IPC-L46N-CAN) from a Canadian Dahua Authorized dealer (about 300CAD after tax) and overall the camera is good. The look and feel of the WebUI is identical to the wired cameras. The lag is also the same as with the wired cameras.
The only issue I have is that I cannot get...
I have one IPC-HDW2439TP-AS-LED-S2 camera that keeps switching to continuous video and snapshot recording:
I uncheck, save, and a few days later I notice the Storage filling and go to the camera and see the box is checked.
Unchecking from "Storage destination" doesn't help. the General box...
Yes, but setting the authentication is a different story. You need to put a header in BI (Basic Authorization works) with the encoded password.
For basic Authentication, you can simply use the browser's JavaScript to encode (no need to look for online tools and risk leaking your credentials)...
Thanks, this worked for me.
The forum has some older threads that suggest
/cgi-bin/configManager.cgi?action=setConfig&Lighting[0][1].Mode=Off
but (at least for newer cameras), need to use Lighting_V2
/cgi-bin/configManager.cgi?action=setConfig&Lighting_V2[0][0][0].Mode=Off
In the browser:
http://10.0.0.10/cgi-bin/configManager.cgi?action=setConfig&Lighting[0][1].Mode=Off
This works for my Dahua HDW2439T-AS-LED-S2 or 5442 LED only partially: it changes the config (I can confirm in the camera's UI), but it does not "activate" it. In other words it changes config...
This request seems to change the config setting, but not apply it. When I go to the camera, I see the setting is change, but the lights don't turn on/off until I go and click Save.
EDIT:

Thanks for this post!
I just want to add that this also works for Dahua HDW2439T-AS-LED-S2. In the browser is asks for Digest Authentication.
EDIT: Did you ever figure out how to send the authenticated request through Blue Iris?
Thanks for the suggestion. I was thinking about adding motion lights, but this camera has two (bright enough) LEDs. Even when I run them 1/100 intensity it is enough for the camera to see very well.
I would like to configure Blue Iris to actually turn them on on movement, so I would get the...
This is a capture from Feb 25th at 4 AM with only ambient light.
I attempted an export from Blue Iris... I had to transcode it, otherwise, the clip would be mostly blank with the occasional inserted frame. I find the transcoding reduced the quality compared to what the camera records directly to...
Thanks for the suggestions. I am on 5.4.6.3 not on BI 5.7.5 yet, will check it out. I have a distinction between ONVIF and EXTERNAL alerts on the "Camera Settings > Alert" tab, and I unchecked ONVIF, but made no difference. Only way to control it seems to be to disable MD/SMD in the camera and...
Awesome idea. Most "interesting" things around here happen during the day (I mean really 2-3 burglaries that I know of happen during the day when people are at work).
So I can set a faster shutter during the day, for crispier images and a slower one at night - until the image gets too dark.
Will...
Thanks for the reply. Definitely shutter prio does something to backlight compensation (on both cameras). I rememer it was suggested to me to set the shutter priority to something like 25ms to reduce motion blur at night, but I ended up leaving it on auto because the image is much better day an...
FWIW, I have another camera of same model, but an older firmware and it has the full "Backlight" compensation options. So I think the first camera is either defective or needs a hard reset.
I have a IPC-HDW2439TP-AS-LED-S2 (IPC-HDW2439T-AS-LED-S2? - not sure what the extra T means) and it's supposed to support WDR, HLC, and BLC as "Backlight" compensation.
However, when I go to Backlight, the mode is Off, and the only option is WDR, but when I select it nothing happens and if I...
I think I have the same model as you and I managed to upgrade the firmware via the camera's web interface as admin.
If you still want to upgrade try the Online upgrade - that worked for me
You do need to give at least temporary internet access, or maybe try to browse to the firmware file...
The camera is configured to record to SFTP and there is no option to choose the format. The files are always a pair of .dav and .idx.
I am not saving the video captures. I just playback from PC NVR timeline or open the .dav in VLC (which mostly works).
However, if you open the .dav in SmartPSS...
