    Multiple Switches or Hubs

I'm asking in the context of the original thread: using switches (no, not "hubs") in series. I think I read somewhere that external switches won't work with many NVRs. Is that true? Strikes me as odd, if so.

    Multiple Switches or Hubs

Just along the lines of this thread: Does this apply equally to NVRs as well as BI-equipped PCs, or more just the latter, please? Thanks!

Latency an issue for IP cams when daisy chaining switches?

I'm looking at an installation covering a fairly large area, so I'd like to be able to daisy-chain 3-4 POE-enabled switches in series, each of which will be up to 200' away from one another, and each one of which (aside from the main one in the closet, which will be progressively farther away)...

    Where to buy bulk cable?

Wow, that article is truly alarming if accurate! I was hoping to (relatively) "future-proof" my upcoming installation by using CAT-6, but now I'm wondering whether just using a quality CAT5 (e.g. Toughcable) would prove just as capable given the lack of conformity. Geez....

    Where to buy bulk cable?

Yes, thanks for that, but I guess I was looking at TC since part of this run will be outdoors where it will be exposed to a lot of sunlight. Not sure that the MP stuff is heavy-duty enough. I want Cat-6 since I want this to hold up for the next couple of decades...!

Split a Cat6 cable purchase? Suggestions for alternative?

Just want to comment that I appreciate the polite and informed back-and-forth on this topic--very informative and impressive. Strikes me a bit as what some might characterize as a "religious issue". But thanks to several of you! - thisGuy

Blue Iris vs iSpy vs Hardware solution

I have much the same question as the OP, though in my case I'm researching for my condo association, so it's for a semi-commercial installation. We've had bid for a NVR-based system in the multi 10's of thousands of dollars, although we only need maybe 10 cameras, with most of them clustered...
