Newer Hikvision offerings still using active/x controls?

Curious if the newer Hikvision models are still using webcomponents.exe active/x controls. With Windows deprecation of Internet Explorer, I'm considering upgrading all my cameras (2CD2385G1's) to something newer that uses newer technology in the browser interface. However, there's no...

Network Cameras no longer to have access to Google Mail (GMAIL)

Invest in a Raspberry PI (even an older one is ok) and run your own internal SMTP mail server. Then you can configure postfix or sendmail to be compliant outbound with google's needs. Have all your cameras send alerts to your pi, and have the pi forward them to gmail.

    DS-2CD2047G1-L latest Firmware ?

http://ftp.hikvision.ru/01.%20Firmware/01.%20Hikvision/01.%20IP%20Camera/ Is where I always find the latest version of firmware for my cameras. It is always wise to keep cameras up to date with the latest firmware to patch any security vulnerabilities which may have been uncovered.

Has anyone loaded G1 firmware 210827 dated 2/3/22?

On many occasions over...

    Hikvision ntp issue

The output from my cameras has been used in several court cases, including criminal cases. An accurate timestamp is essential. Originally when they were configured, I wasn't using an internal ntp server, they were just set to resolve against the public ntp pool. It was only after setting up...

    Hikvision ntp issue

Well, the reason for hammering DNS is the damn cameras make an NTP request every 10 seconds... so if you use dns resolution, you're going to not only get a dns request every 10 seconds but a ntp request every 10 seconds.... Oct 12 14:43:01 gateway kernel: NTP:IN=enp2s0 OUT=...

    Hikvision ntp issue

did that too. At the moment I'm logging NTP requests via iptables to see exactly how much NTP traffic I'm getting. For folks who have NTP set up on their cameras, they may likewise be slamming their DNS server with requests and simply not know it.

    Hikvision ntp issue

yeah... already did that. Reconfigured chronyd on my linux router to act as an ntp server. added a CNAME entry to my internal dns server to point ntp.toltingcolt.local to my router (gateway.toltingcolt.local) @ 192.168.254.254. the cameras still spam the hell out of the dns server trying to...

    Hikvision ntp issue

I recently set up PiHole on my network. Reviewing the logs, I noticed my cameras, which were configured to use ntp (pool.ntp.org) were spamming the dns server every few seconds. going to one of the cameras, I pull up the Time Settings page and verified my settings: I had set this up years ago...

DS-7608NI-I2-8P no longer on Hikvision site

Hikvision's web sites are like that. For the life of me I can't figure out why their web presence is so disorganized. It seems every "region" has a separate web site, rather than 1 centralized website with language-specific pages. For example, if I go look for firmware for my DS-2CD2385G1-I, I...

Hikvision without web components live view works

Given Microsoft has indicated they intend to remove IE from Windows distributions at some point in the future, I would hope Hikvision would get their thumb out of their ass and make their software work 100% unhindered in modern browsers.

    Hikvision ptz recommendation

depends on your requirements. are you going to use the higher optical zoom due to placement of the camera? If you're not likely to get anything out of the higher zoom (and reduced field of vision) then IMO the larger sensor is better as you will get better night images. i've never been able to...

    Which Hikvision ColorVu PoE camera?

I pretty much tried every combination of everything over the course of several months. I got excellent nighttime pictures of cars... just the license plates were one large rectangular block of bright white.

    Firmware Version Property

Does anyone know what the codes in the "Version Firmware Property" stand for? I bought a couple of OEM Hikvision ColorVu's for extended testing. Two are listed as "HS-VUT04G1-IA20200618AAWRE########" w/ a Firmware Version Property of "C-R-G1-0" One is listed as...

Need help watching files from recorded Hikvision device

It wasn't a playback tool. It was a .net class library people could use in their own apps to read hikvision's file structures. The source is still available on github. Hikdump was a utility which used the .net class library to read and print out a list the video files.

Need help watching files from recorded Hikvision device

Sorry, I really can't teach you programming. There isn't a tool to do what you want to do, you'd have to make one using the libraries out there. See ToltingColtAcres - Overview HikNAS and HikDump

the php library looks like it might work, but you'd have to write a php program and call the requisite library functions to extract the necessary files.

Need help watching files from recorded Hikvision device

Hikvision doesn't use a regular file structure to store files. You need a program that can read the index files and recreate the proper sequence of files. There are programs out there that can do this if you search around the web and ipcamtalk i'm sure you can find them.

Initial review of the DS-2CD2347G2-L(U) ColorVu 2.0 IP camera.

My G1s have 5.6.5 and I find the chrome plug-in to be extremely buggy. For example, clicking "search" on the playback screen basically does nothing. Maybe someday :D

Initial review of the DS-2CD2347G2-L(U) ColorVu 2.0 IP camera.

I sure wish Hikvision's firmwares would move away from the IE "helper" webcomponents plug-in, given IE is now dead and MS is actively forcing people to "upgrade" to Edge.

Years ago I had problems getting nfs to work. There's probably still some of my old posts in the NFS/SMB thread. Probably had to do w/ quotas etc. What I ended up doing, as illustrated above, was using fallocate to create a disk image file which I mounted via the loop interface and then...

Adding a NetHDD for Hikvision Cameras

Its been working for me for a long, long time. Even with my 4MP cameras which I've had for several years. If it doesn't work for you, then I would suspect your NAS. A stock Linux system works best IMO rather than vendor-specific solutions.
