Connecting to 2nvrs together through port forwarding on separate networks

WG is good. Assume this is between two firewalls / routers, since you state "peer to peer" VPN? What routers are you using? Have you tried the method I mentioned earlier?

Connecting to 2nvrs together through port forwarding on separate networks

Not totally clear if the methods shown in the video necessarily use the site-to-site VPN though. Would not recommend running the traffic in its raw form over the internet for security reasons. The method shown in the second video could likely work in over the S2S tunnel. See my previous post.

Low-light struggles / improving image quality.

Thanks Steve. For now, I will look into replacing the 12mm Hik with a B54IR-Z4E (bullet). I will be pleased if I can get good face ID at night in this location. I will probably leave my other spotter / overview Hik which is covering the same area alone for now, because it is fulfilling its...

So looks like the T54IR-ZE @ 12mm is not quite going to cut it for 40ft - I will see about sourcing a B54IR-Z4E and update this thread accordingly.

Looks like, very approximately, 40 feet + a bit for height. Actually slightly more than I thought! The perp (or harmless delivery driver) would likely move closer to the camera as they approach.

Good idea regarding the distance - I was hoping that by measuring, I could take into account the camera height and get the diagonal distance - I can still calculate this, perhaps will do so at some point. In that case, perhaps I will go with the bullet, as more IR is never a bad thing... Does...

Low-light struggles / improving image quality.

Sorry, yes, attached is a full-size image from the Hik, at approx. 12mm, running 1/25 shutter. Seems the two candidates are the 54IR-ZE (turret) or the B54IR-Z4E (bullet). The bullet is more expensive, and probably slightly less optimal from an aesthetics point of view (the turret sits quite...

Low-light struggles / improving image quality.

Here are a couple of examples from a few weeks ago, before I had tweaked the settings yesterday. Unfortunatley there is no motion to examine (nobody walking about at 12PM). This is the 12mm Hik: You can see how grainy the image is. And this was running 1/25 shutter, would only be worse at 1/50...

Low-light struggles / improving image quality.

OK, so looks like the 54IR-ZE might be a good choice then - price is not too bad either... Would rather avoid a white light in this scenario - motion sensing maybe, but then we have issues with the cameras having to adjust when the light switches on, blowing out faces etc... I did consider...

Low-light struggles / improving image quality.

@wittaj, thanks for your detailed post. I have tried playing with a few settings, as suggested, but I am not sure I have made much improvement. I'm sure I could dial things in a little better, but this is of course a little tricky (can only really be evaluated properly in the dead of night...

Low-light struggles / improving image quality.

So I have 2x Hikvision IP cameras currently covering a specific area. 1 is a DS-2CD2325FWD-I, with the 2.8mm lens, and this is a great overview camera, but, as you would expect, and especially since it is mounted quite high, it is no good for anything beyond Observe or maybe Recognize in the...

Hik NVR struggling to record RTSP streams reliably from certain cameras

Did another interesting experiment. I got my hands on one of the troublesome-type cameras, and brought it back to my location (where the Hikvision NVR is). I connected it to my switch, and added it directly to the Hikvision NVR as an ONVIF camera. This has so far been recording as normal. So...

Connecting to 2nvrs together through port forwarding on separate networks

Assuming you have your VPN routing configured correctly, you will need to input the local IP address of the smaller NVR into the larger NVR. The larger NVR should then connect to the smaller NVR over the site-to-site VPN tunnel. For example, if your smaller NVR is at 192.168.10.200, you have...

Hik NVR struggling to record RTSP streams reliably from certain cameras

I don't think the network traffic variations are really going to be causing this issue (as only some cameras are affected, and its not just at night when the recording is problematic), but since it is really the only thing I have to go by at the moment, I decided to run a continuous ping to the...

Hik NVR struggling to record RTSP streams reliably from certain cameras

No. I think that specific working camera is set to 25 FPS, and is indeed showing as 25FPS in the Hikvision NVR Live View window.

Hik NVR struggling to record RTSP streams reliably from certain cameras

One thing I have just noticed when looking back at the information provided by VLC is the frame rate on the problematic camera: 29.97... certainly does not look right - the camera is set to 15FPS, and my Hikvision NVR reports the correct 15FPS when live viewing the camera.

Hik NVR struggling to record RTSP streams reliably from certain cameras

Got a problem which currently has me stumped. At a remote site, I have a typical PoE NVR, which is branded as SPRO, but I believe it is a re-branded Dahua unit. Connected to this NVR are some 10 IP cameras. I did not install this system myself, but rather inherited it, so I cannot explain why...
