    I started my Blue Iris machine with an I3-4160 and shortly upgraded it to I7-4770. I am currently running 4) 3mp cams and 2) 4mp cams and it is usually about 40-50% usage with direct to disk writing.

    Can POE Cables Go Underground?

    I would run Direct Bury shielded Cat5E in conduit with lightning arresters (I use ONEAC) on both sides. I am a telecom technician in South Florida and in my experience, lightning and water intrusion are the devil. I can not comment on the frost line issue cause down here, WTF is a frost line lol.

    What is best online site to Buy Dahua cameras?

    I have bought almost all my cameras on eBay. Several of them from China sellers and only caveat is the time it takes to arrive. I have done make offer several times dropping a couple more bucks off the already great prices. I foresee me buying several more on eBay in the future

    I wanted to thank all of you awesome folks here on IPCamTalk.....I bought one of these nifty little cameras and with the wealth of knowledge in the thread I have it working great. It is a decent little camera to play with that would have been a complete migraine without you all here.

    You can usually find a way to make your provider's router a passthrough connection and utilize your own router.

    That is some good test data there, thanks I have a couple of servers I use sandisk USB micro flash drives for the OS. They boot up fast and leaves the HDDs for the applications.

    SSDs are essentially Flash Drives and have a finite write lifetime. Security cameras recording 24/7 to them I imagine would significantly lower their life
