    Thermal one have good identify cameras, but those need thousands USD. :) But thermal can work at any weather to identify, heavy fog also can work. Also can use at some place for temperature monitoring(Temperature measurement model ) , like watching engine room, Waste treatment center...

    I agree with redfish's post, the IVS is much more acurate than the MD. Sure if you use NVR better use the same brand cameras, better not mix brands, each brand have its own protocle, though they support onvif, but onvif support very limited functions.
