Try disabling ipv6 on camera subnet

Problem Solved. On the recording schedule tab there is an advanced button. Select camera then this opens to a dialog box where you can enable recording of audio. Had to reboot everything, now recording is working.

Just set up this camera with a Hikvision 9632 NVR. Tried all the tips can hear sound live but not on playback. Tried several different audio codecs and settings. Anybody recording sound on this NVR?

Make sure frame rate on culprit camera not too high and bit rate is set appropriately.

Returned them. In 2 the imaging plane seemed misaligned with the lens- only part of the image was out of focus.

Interesting I have purchased a few cameras from B and H and 3 have been out of focus. Have had better luck on AliExpress. Agree they have excellent service though

I ended up replacing all these with the 2335 turrets. MUCH better image quality day and night plus no problems with spiders.

Maybe it needs a specific firmware to activate that feature. Where did you get it from?

Does it show up using the camera's web interface?

I have the DS-9632NI-i8. Max 32 cameras with 2 GB ports. I am happy with this. Have 32 cameras 3-8MP using 235Mbps with 85Mbps to spare.Newer firmware has addressed most of the glitches and has a better UI. Don't use Windows so not sure how the VMS runs on it.

I had the same problem with the varifocal version of this camera and it did not clear on its own. Mine came from China so I bit the bullet and disassembled it. Dried it up with hairdryer, replaced dessicant pack, and added silicone grease to gasket. Fixed.

I tweaked the shutter speed on the existing camera and I can read the plates much better. Was seeing a lot of motion blur. That should be fine for now plus I didn't have a good spot to mount another bullet camera without my house looking like a prison;)

I'm interested in replacing an existing 8mm bullet camera to monitor my driveway with one of these LPR's. I would like to maintain the existing field of view, so wondering if that is sufficient for LPR function to work. See pic below:

They are hard to find with 4 and especially 6mm lenses. B and H has 4mm and you can also find them on aliexpress

Yes definitely. I have the 5 and 8MP models in that series and there is no comparison with low light performance of the 3 MP

Nelly’s has a rebranded Hik PTZ in 2 and 3 MP. The 3MP has very good low light capability but does suffer from IR flare a bit.

The Hikvision 2335 turrets are excellent low light cameras. I’ve switched most of my outdoor cameras out for 2335s

Add another subnet to your pfsense router and put the POE switch, BI box, and all the cameras on that. Block access from that subnet to your main network and set up the VPN on the surveillance subnet to connect to the BI machine.

Looking at the Dahua starlights to replace a couple of old Hikvision turrets I have outside. The ultra low light 3MP Hik's are hard to find now esp in longer focal lengths. Will I loose any functionality with a Hikvision NVR? Need motion detection, and line crossing would be nice.

I don't have the patience to wait and it was clearly not getting better. I opened up the case and dried it with a hair dryer. Let it cool and added another desiccant pack from a dead camera I had lying around. Used some silicone grease on the gasket and so far so good- no fogging.
