    Just figured it out. If you disable H.264+ (Configuration > Video/Audio > H.264+), Rotate Mode becomes possible.

    The point of rotate mode is so you can frame your shot at 9:16 instead of 16:9. In other words, I HAVE rotated the lens to frame a long corridor. But without software, I have to turn my head sideways to view it. If I rotated the lens back 90 degrees I'd only be looking at half of my subject...

    Tried with capture on and off, both on PAL and NTSC. Also tried turning off scheduled image switch.

    I have a DS-2CD2142FWD-I with firmware version 5.4.4. I'm trying to use Rotate Mode (corridor mode?) (Hikvision USA) but I don't have the option to turn it on. Any ideas?
