Thats how much it can turn manually once you mount it. It doesn't have motorized pan/tilt. The good news is if its not what you need you'll have no problems selling it.

Pan and Title aren't supported for this camera. Zoom works fine for me thru BI using the +/-. I'm not sure I'd worry about the PAL/NTSC thing. Digital is digital.

Kinda sounds like security through obscurity. Anyone with a port scanner would find it anyway. I wouldn't bother.

I've thought about a flood too. Does anyone know which wavelength of light the Dahua's are sensitive to? Is this something that needs to be considered?

This thread got me thinking about my upcoming install with the 5231 turrets. I'm planning on mounting to the underside of aluminum soffits. Are those aluminum soffits gonna be strong enough to support that turrent? My guess is they will. I'm planning on just drilling a hole for the CAT6 and...

My experience with the turrets is that if you can flush mount it without the junction box it looks much better and has a much higher WAF (wife acceptance factor).

Probably. I'd say throw up the 5231 under the eave and see how things go. Instead of buying the more $$$ PTZ save that money. Have it set aside for another spot you'd like to monitor or another angle on the driveway :)

I'm in a similar situation with my plans for my driveway. I'm going with the 5231 turrent under the eave. I'm planning on attaching it to the soffit and running the wire thru the attic. I think you'd probably be better off buying two 5231s that one ptz. You'll get more coverage that way.

I think that fixed it. Both the POE uplink from the Dahua cameras and the server were connected to an old dell managed gigabit switch. I mean like 10 years old. I moved both to a new managed netgear switch and everything seems fine. I did see CRC errors on the new netgear switch coming from...

Fenderman - no it is a dahua. Cainrand - I don't think I'm out of resources. Cpu is steady around 23% and system has 8 GB RAM. I'm going to fire up resource mon and see if maybe there is some disk queuing going on. Disabling a/v entirely is also something I'll try tonight.

Argh.... Looks like I declared victory too soon. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
