Here to find solutions to save my house!

Tangent thanks for the info. I got them programmed in. Now all that's left is naming the zones. Then it'll be done.

Here to find solutions to save my house!

I have a large rectangular window with entry's on the left and right with wireless Honeywell 5816 sensors on them. Does anyone know you go about programming this? I have 14 sensors and only 7 wireless zones. As you can see there isn't enough zones to accommodate every sensor as an individual...

Here to find solutions to save my house!

Good idea Tangent. I didn't end up needing the old Lynx though. Programming the 20P from the 6160RF isn't bad. Everything is wired up. Now comes the programming of zones and tidying up. One thing I completely messed up was the actual panel that goes on the wall. For some reason I thought cutting...

Here to find solutions to save my house!

Just got my 20P Kit today. About to begin the installation tonight. Is their anything I should do before disconnecting the old LynxR 2 Panel?

Oh, right in the box, bad idea. I'll put it on the wall next to the Vista 20P. After initial programming, I won't actually be interacting with the keypad much. Instead I'll be using a tablet and mobile phone as a virtual keypads. Thomas

Did that, I've got a handle on the programming. I'm ready to roll. LOL. Question: Do you see any issue with mounting the 6160RF in the same box with the 20P, 7ah battery, which itself will be hidden away in a room closet.

I took your advice smiticans and picked up a 6160RF with the system. I plan to integrated it into my Samsung SmartThings Home Integration System ([RELEASE] Honeywell / Ademco Vista 20P Integration).

I got the Vista 20P, and EnvisaLink EVL-4 ordered today. I plan use a Samsung SmartThings integration to integrate it into my Home Automation System. Bye, bye LynxR 2.

Here to find solutions to save my house!

@smiticans, is the 21ip the better option since it has integrated AlarmNet internet alarm monitoring communicator and a 4G cellular board available. The 21iP is running approx $100 or so more than the 20P.

Here to find solutions to save my house!

Ok. So it's established that I can get cellular monitoring from $20-40 per month. Where does Alarm.com and Total Connect 2.0 come in? Do those services come from the company I order the panel from or the monitoring service I choose? Or I stick with my previous plan of getting the 20P and...

Here to find solutions to save my house!

@fenderman I see. I do not have a landline. A cellular line would have to do the trick. Is it because AlarmRelay doesn't support cellular? Please excuse my ignorance in the matter, I'm new to this whole security system thing.

Here to find solutions to save my house!

I checked out the AlarmRelay company. Thank you for the link. I have so many questions...Just 1 however is, does an Alarm.com or Total Connect 2.0 account come with the $8.95 service? I'm choosing those two system because they are the apps that support the panels I'd be looking to interface...

Here to find solutions to save my house!

I've read the opposing viewpoints. Both sides have their points. The position I currently have is that I don't have an alarm now. No notifications. Getting something installed where I do receive notifications electronically and sonically is an improvement. I did look at several companies, but...

Here to find solutions to save my house!

Got it. Ok, Here's the system as I'm planning it out. $279 for the 20P Kit (comes with a bunch of goodies I need) $129 EnvisaLink $408 Total With no monitoring fees it's a winner. I've looked at several security systems over the last few days. Heck, I've even had to cancel a couple that I'd...

Here to find solutions to save my house!

@smiticans, I've reassessed my situation based on your posts and I'm now reevauating the 20P EnvisaLink 4 solution. My biggest question is will the EnvisaLink 4 work with the 20P and all my Honeywell 5816 wireless zones? I've posted this question at the EnvisaLink forum as well, I have yet to...

I would think plastidip would work to waterproof the Rj45 connections. Has anyone used that?

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

At least two of the cameras are mounted under 4' deep eves out of the elements but still outside. I can come straight into attic space with the camera poe cable from out into /cat6 interface Where can I source these weatherproof boots?

For what reason would you suggest sticking with the Honeywell 5800 series wireless sensors? Compatibility?

Here to find solutions to save my house!

@smiticans, I ended up getting a LiveWatch Security System which uses the popular Qolsys IQ Control Panel and accompanying sensors. The cool part is the Qolsys IQ Control Panel integrates my Honeywell 5816 Sensors saving me the cost of buying 14 new sensors.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

@mat200, I see, so from the looks of the junction box the camera can either mount on the top or bottom of the box or the camera can be placed next to or close to the camera.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I'm on the verge of buying several of these cameras and NVR but I have a couple of mountain questions I'm hoping to get help with before pulling the trigger. Is the Dahua PFA137 Junction box necessary to mount the camera w/stock base into stucco or wood of my underhang? Can the camera be...

Here to find solutions to save my house!

@smiticans, Roger on the Dahua 2mp Starlight cams, 2 are already in cart cued up to purchase! Thanks Smiticans, now I understand what those other wires are. Those 2 wires come out in a closet in where I found the Honeywell transformer for the Lynx R2, it was unconnected as well. The 2 wires use...

Here to find solutions to save my house!

The Lyric System is the ticket for me I believe. It's all in one, I can use my current honeywell 5816 sensors which lowers the initial startup costs, I can upgrade to the encrypted sensors over time and I would only have to pay a small monthly fee to get self monitoring enabled. Plus if I decide...

I have the Honeywell Lynx 2 which isn't compatible with the Envisalink 4 but I could buy a Vista controller off eBay and then buy the Envisalink 4. What kind of experience do you have with that product? Firstly how well does it work? Or better yet I could just by the new Honeywell Lyric...

I'm staying put for now. I wouldn't classify the area as a bad area, but the certainly the spat of burglaries has opened my eyes. Cameras are going to have to suffice for now.
