    Changing fonts-

Are your cams exposed to others in some way? If not, then not much need for complex passwords. Most all of the exploits just go around the passwords anyway. I don't recall ever seeing any way to change the fonts for BI specifically. I suppose you could change the default Windows fonts.

Another day, another boat crashing into my dock... sigh

Remembered this post while looking at West Marine's site for other stuff... They happen to have some of the bumpers on 50%-off clearance if you have a store close. https://www.westmarine.com/search?q=dock%2520bumpers&prefn1=clearance&prefv1=Clearance

    Burying ethernet cable outdoors

What you linked to can be directly buried fine. Better inside PVC or some other form of conduit if you can do it. In addition to better protecting it, may let you run another or replace cable easier later.

    Camera markup prices

Not sure there are any licenses specific to cameras. There are for low-voltage generally and more specific requirements for alarm and fire systems. https://lowvoltagenation.com/2023/01/low-voltage-license-requirements-by-state/

    Close Focus Distance Limits?

That's a spec that you can't really rely on just looking at it on paper. I've seen some that go either way. A 5842 that I have I think that they list the close focus at ~6 feet but manually I could get it very good down to less than a foot. But then you still have the fairly short DOF so you...

Was going to say the same. That will largely hide it and the black makes a big difference.

    Tree Install

Not sure what phone you have. Search for turn off photo geotagging and iPhone or Android and you'll find the steps. You can either turn it off for all photos or you can leave it on and manually delete the location data from selected photos as you want. Depends how you want it to work. Some...

Best hard drive setup for Blue Iris?

Unless you have some specific reason otherwise, keep it simple - BI and database on C: (which should be your fastest drive), stored video and images on your storage drive. No need to split things up across partitions. Doesn't really buy you much of anything. If you had two physical storage...

Best hard drive setup for Blue Iris?

Any important cams should be running continuous in some form. At least using substreams. If not, at some point you'll wish that you had more of what preceded/came after some event, things that happen out of range of your primary interest/triggers, views from other cams that wouldn't be...

Best hard drive setup for Blue Iris?

Yeah, I looked a little more last night and tried deleting various files and seeing the effect and that's what I ended up thinking. I didn't try deleting that file (for obvious reasons), but you can delete pretty much any others associated with that cam/clip (.bvr, .dat for that cam, etc.) and...

Input on dialing in another camera

Also should have said add more light if you can. That's really the best answer Will make it much easier to get there.

Los Angeles Sherriff Want Access To Cameras Using A Device

I could see a business maybe doing it if it allowed the police to view what's happening at their business. But it doesn't seem to be that. It says in case of a "nearby emergency." Seems to be intended for other sorts of events.

Replacing Water Heater Tank in Attic

What's the reason for being located in the attic? Don't think I've ever seen one there.

Input on dialing in another camera

Zoom in more if you can. Try increasing bitrate to 12,288, up FPS to 20 or 25, up shutter speed a little more as you can given the light, gain down to 50, sharpening down to 25-ish. Along with reducing DNR, that should be about as good as it gets (at the expense of using more resources)...

Best hard drive setup for Blue Iris?

Ahhh... gotcha. Yes, I have .jpgs being saved for my LPR cams and a couple of others. That's what's in there. The thumbnails must be saved somewhere else or otherwise derived from the video. BI can't hide files in some way from Windows' native view.

Best hard drive setup for Blue Iris?

Do you mean in Windows or talking about something else? I can see mine. I know because I have a gazillion of them and clean it out now and then.

    Camera time and NetTime

I think it depends on how you set up the rule. Whether there are some limitations defined as far as allowing traffic through. i.e., All, Any/Any vs Private, single host/whatever. Port 37 is an older time protocol that NetTime also listens for.

    Camera time and NetTime

Not sure what you have where there but your NTP server needs to have Internet access in order to pull the time from whatever outside server. On the other side, your cams need to be able to see your NTP server without having Internet access. So, generally, assuming that you've segregated the...

    Camera time and NetTime

Sorry, I forgot to tell you to try that program from a machine other than your NTP server. You want to see if you can get through to the server from the network/cams. Load it up on another machine. Point it to your NetTime server. Click Test like 5 or 6 times. On the server, open the...

    Camera time and NetTime

Try using that utility that I pointed you to. Faster and easier than going into the cams. If that doesn't work, then they won't either. If it does and the camera doesn't, then that tells you that it's something with the camera.

Under Inbound Rules, click on new rule. Put in port 123, UDP, all both ways. Same for Outbound. Also back in NetTime... For logging level, set it to verbose. I forgot that it may not show the cam connection attempts at the normal level.

    Camera time and NetTime

While you're messing with it, you might want to change the default servers that come set up in NetTime. I've been getting errors with the ones that have .nettime. in the address. I think that the reason for the failures in your log but that's separate from your cams getting time. You can...

    Camera time and NetTime

Not the end of the log but I don't see any cameras connecting to it there. Did you allow port 123 through the firewall on the server? Is W32Time also running on the server? Check Services under Task Manager and disable if so. Here's a little utility that makes it easy to test NTP...

Tendelux IR Illuminator AI4 Infrared Light

The little DI10 and DI20 work well. I've not had any problems with the PS or noticed that they got particularly hot but mine are all outside. I did have water get into one out of the 5 that I have. I think that was kind of a fluke. I had it turned upside down and the "shade" that's usually...

    Required bandwidth is only 15Mbps?

I suppose details matter and benefits/drawbacks given specifics, but generally that will work fine as far as basic functions. Can affect how/whether you can set up VLANs. And you won't have the full benefit of some of the examples I mentioned. e.g., You won't be able to toggle power to a port...
