That is a very good way of putting it, detecting animals is definitely more unique/niche so I could see why less time would be spent targeting that. Which is a shame as there are lots of scenarios I could see these being useful in if they had more specifics for animals, such as counting...

Just out of my own curiosity, did Dahua do away with animal detection on newer cameras/models? Or is it just better on the older ones?

The IP I got (only was calling via IP): 216.239.36. 55 I was extremely shocked it wasn't calling to a domain since that isn't very redundant but maybe it's different on various NVRS? You might get lucky and see that IP pop up - I had a heck of a time on my setup with a complicated VPN setup...
