    More presents from Andy!

Likewise I ordered the black version. It looks really cool and discreet- why do most cameras have a white finish? Anyway, I am totally amazed by the night vision. It is so much better than 2mp version I bought a couple of years ago.

What dash cam are you using?

There's not much in the way of decent video quality, wired in, discreet, IP rated cameras that are reasonably priced. You could look at some of the regular cctv bullet style cameras that have a SD card recording in them, assuming you'd only want to view the footage in case of an incident. Then...

    Review-Dahua IPC-HDBW4231F-E2-M Dual Starlight Cam

Has anyone tried the PFB203 to mount this horizontally against a wall. I don't want to mount the camera flat against the wall.

    Andy's awesome!

A third order from Andy. This time for the NVR and delivered within 5 working days. Both cameras setup recognised immediately. Now want to get some more cams! Very happy. Total confidence to order again.

    Black Color Camera

They look very good and discreet in black colour! I spray painted a 5231, but it didn't really look too good. It is scratching off and the white is bleeding through.

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Thanks! I'll bide my time and wait until Andy has stock. The KKmoon 4x zoom will have to hang on a little longer

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Was looking for this on Empiretech, but doesn't appear to be in stock. Has anyone ordered this camera recently? Is Andy still checking this forum?

Live View Plug-In Incompatible Between Cameras

I have noticed the same issue when switching between the 5231 and the 22204T in a browser.

    PFB203w

yes maybe a 10mm hole somewhere near the bottom and fish it through? The cavity at the top is large enough for the pigtail. The brackets are very nice. I will be painting one a similar colour to the wall, so it's less obvious.

    Thoughts on camera locations

Exactly. Enjoy it and have fun experimenting with the cameras. Buy a decent cat6 crimp tool and get wiring!

    Thoughts on camera locations

If you have a test rig, try mounting a camera low to the ground, maybe a foot or so up. Turn off the IR, and spray paint the body to blend into its location. Your overt cameras can provide the IR or have separate IR lamps. I've bought a load of IR LEDS and I'm going to try daisy chaining some in...

    Thoughts on camera locations

Look at this from a different perspective, rather than relying on CCTV after the event and trying to identify the person who is taking your items. Construct a wooden box in your porch or nearby for couriers to leave packages in. Then it becomes part of the look of the porch rather than standing...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Very happy with the image quality of the hdw5231. Night footage is amazing. The IR lights even boosted a non starlight camera image! Fitted a 128GB SD card. I applied a little silicone lubricant on the case seal before closing it up. It's going to be in a sheltered location anyway. The IR/mic...

Opinions on home CCTV build plan (was: SD6AE230F-HNI vs SD6AE240V-HNI)

My approach as a fellow IP camera newbie is to start off small with just a couple of camera purchases and see how that goes. Then buy more cameras to extend the system. I've now bought my second camera from Andy and he is very fast to respond. I ordered the first camera on a Thursday night and...

Dahua VTH1550CH not powering up when connected to Dahua NVR (photos attached)

Looking at the photos I'd also assume an external power supply was required? Does POE provides power for the display? Sort of on a similar line, I don't know what is the maximum current that POE can supply over say 20 metres. Is standard Ethernet cable used, or is it better to use uprated cable?

    Dahua NVR & Switch

I will certainly try out a starlight turret. I just like the very small form factor of the sd22204t and that it is ptz, so I don't need to go out and readjust the view. If there is a starlight ptz of that size I may be tempted. I'm going to post my review of the sd22204t on a new thread as there...

    Dahua NVR & Switch

Yes, I purposely didn't want the IR emitters on the camera. I'll have motion sensing lights or will be using external IR floodlights.

    Dahua NVR & Switch

I'm also looking at buying the NVR5216 within the next couple of months. Very interested to know the progress of your purchase and install. I started looking at 8 channel, but realised the 16 channel gives greater flexibility with the cameras. For cameras, I'm going for SD22204T as they give me...

Dahua SD22204T-GN can't download stored video from the Playback tab

Thanks Qbert. I've ordered the wireless variant from Aliexpress, so here's hoping it works out. At the moment, can you access it remotely and ptz via a smartphone? I'm keen to move to this type of ptz rather than fixed domes or bullet cams as they give you much greater flexibility once...

Dahua SD22204T-GN can't download stored video from the Playback tab

I'm looking buying the SD22204T-GN-W, rather than the wired only variant. I thought the wireless ability would be handy for the locations it's difficult to cable? I'm happy with the 4x zoom and I can install additional illuminators. Can it be used standalone and accessed remotely? I'm curently...
