hey there, I'm having issues with the cameras i've put on the light pole. The wires are going dead. I'm planning on using ubiquity TouchCable Carrier wire. Any thoughts on why the cables are going to crap? Maybe they are just cheap wire? I just don't want to run the wires a third time...

Robert, Giomania has a great document that he sent a link to: IPCamTalk Cliff Notes 2018-02.docx or: IPCamTalk Cliff Notes 2018-03.docx It's in this great document on page 8. To me it's too much to understand. Not sure if you've seen this document yet, but it's awesome.

I'm looking to replace some old cameras with a Dahua starlight cameras. I know IPC-HDW5231R-Z was @nayr's favorite however is there a better camera now that I should use? I'd prefer a turret type.

OK, so I'm hacked as well. So do i toss these units and start over or is there some time of protocol to go through. I'm not an IT kinda guy but not an idiot so if there are good directions i can get it done. Also, sounds like we need our own type of cyber security on this NVR?

@nayr since this original thread has started in 2016, has there been a better low light camera since the HDI-5231R-Z? Ive got to replace a camera and want to use the latest/best Dahua low light camera. Thanks!

Nayr - I'd love to have the Smart PSS on my Mac running in the background but it seems to eat up CPU (after a while the fan turns on to cool the processor). Is there a way to set it up whereby it doesn't use a bunch of computer CPU? Thanks in advance and thanks for finding the starlight...

I totally agree with Nayr re the Huisun as a plate camera. I've got one up and it's already caught one thief stealing our lawn man's blower. He drove by and I was able to see his plate clear as could be. I've got it zoomed into the middle of the street and just leave it there. I get every...
