    Suitable NVR for my setup

Not really, there are many different models of Hikvision NVRs available. Here's an interactive comparison table from a website I work with: http://www.vueville.com/home-security/cctv/nvr/buyers-guide-network-video-recorder-nvr/

    Suitable NVR for my setup

One area where my current QNAP NAS NVR does max out gigabit ethernet is when I review multi camera footage at 16x speeds. So this is something to consider as well. Of course you would have the same issue with WiFi. Sent from my SM-A500F using Tapatalk

    Suitable NVR for my setup

You should be okay. Powerline speeds do fall off quite a bit with distance and hopping ring mains. Even so, you should get at least the bandwidth required for 3 cameras. I don't have this set up but there must be others on the forum who do use powerline networks for IP camera traffic. Sent...

    Suitable NVR for my setup

Powerline networking is a mature technology. However, the advertised speeds are usually the total bandwidth (split between upload and download), are terribly optimistic and achieved speeds depend very much on the wiring in your home. At the moment, with the fastest 1200Mbps (advertised/claimed)...

how to send snap shot from camera to FTP

In the past I have successfully configured my 2032 to upload snap shots to my website. I didn't stick with it because my hosting provider had upload limits (shared hosting). Will look for a screen shot of the settings. Sent from my SM-A500 using Tapatalk

Hi I wouldn't recommend wireless. Worst case you could use powerline networking. Sent from my SM-A500F using Tapatalk

RasPipC - Cameras on your TV made Easy.

Hi thanks for the reply. The DPI scaling is the default that Dell has set to make text legible on such a small screen at this high resolution I guess. If it's difficult to make the elements responsive, of course I can always zoom out [emoji2] Just wondering though wouldn't this sort of scenario...

RasPipC - Cameras on your TV made Easy.

Hi I am running 1920 x 1080 (double -checked). Its my bad really, the screen shot software I use didn't capture the taskbar, here's a full screen screenshot at 100% zoom.

Thank you for this super project. Some feedback on the webUI: at 100% in Chrome on my 1080p screen, the view does not resize to fit and scrollbars appear vertically. Zooming out to 90% gets rid of the scrollbars and the views fit perfectly.

Definitely try setting up email alerts individually on each camera. I made a step by step walkthrough for Hikvision together with GMX here

    Hikvision Product Comparison

Hi, using a VPN for remote access instead of port forwarding the cameras is an involved process and took me some time to get working as I wanted. You need a device on your network which will act as a VPN server. This could be a PC running 24/7, a router, or a NAS. I didn't want a power sucking...

    Vpn?

Hi @JFire, I was in the same situation - I didnt want port forwarding as my cameras ended up being targeted by hackers a lot and so wanted a VPN server, but didnt want to run a PC 24/7.... I needed a network storage system as well, so I went with a QNAP NAS. I did a little write-up here on my...

    Distorted view

Hello, This looks like a case of dropped frames. I say this because I get the same visual 'effect' on my phone when I remote view my cameras over my rather slow 1Mbps upload internet connection. Since your mobile is not facing the same problem, it would seem that the issue is somewhere between...

    Ip cam passwords

Hello, Changing the default passwords of the cameras is definitely a good idea. When you plug the cameras into your NVR's POE ports (i.e built-in POE switch of the NVR), they are no longer accessible from the network - the web admin page of those cameras cannot be accessed by your laptop. So...

    Hikvision - Noise/Quality Problem - $50 Reward!

I suggested and explained this to the OP a few pages ago. But he said it made no difference whatsoever and he has already solved the problem. Thanks for the detailed explanation though.

    Hikvision - Noise/Quality Problem - $50 Reward!

I saw your video when you posted it and you said there is something wrong. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it in my eyes. Many others said the same. If you want to convince the forum, simply post the new video from your test that you say worked. And oh the before video as well. It will...

Pls help improve night time quality. Hik 2335-I

I haven't done the research actually so I can't really say. There are some board members who know a lot more about IR lamps, so they may pitch in.

Pls help improve night time quality. Hik 2335-I

Depending on how much you want to spend, there are many options. However I suggest go as wide-angle as possible. SOmething like this: Claimed 90 degrees: http://www.amazon.com/Univivi-U03R-WideAngle-Illuminator-Adapter/dp/B00NAU9EYK Claimed 60 degrees...

Pls help improve night time quality. Hik 2335-I

You need better camera positioning/aiming and optionally additional external IR lighting if you want the best out of these cameras. As you will notice, the camera's on-board IR, whilst being powerful, has a flashlight effect and cannot spread out and light up the whole scene. For the first...

    Only 1 camera working

Hi M119, Welcome to the forum. I havent personally heard of TechGuard nor do I have any experience with them. Since the camera in question worked while you were testing it, there are two potential causes for it not working now: 1. Something has changed in your network setup has changed between...

S indicates that it supports 2 way audio - at least the audio connections for a microphone and a speaker. So you can record audio along with your video. So the S indicates it has the connections (a pigtail) for the microphone and a speaker. The F indicates the presence of an SD card slot for...
