looks like V4.21.005 build 190509, has a bug, was recording the smart events, but not all camera playing back via a web browser, downgraded the FW , and its working again

i would lower the height of the cam. either drop in an ir lamp higher up, or put in a couple of 10w daylight leds and see if you get colour at night , non of them need to be higher than the 1st floor

what you need is VPN - most routers support it, and you are then secure, vpn is very common now , its not complex - any IT tech can set it up for you

why don't you just go with a hikvision or dahua turret, the hikvision DS-2CD2335FWD-I is a decent camera, decent night vision , Supports microSD/SDHC/SDXC card (128G). you will need ethernet for it though. there's not that many decent wifi based cameras about.
