    What causes this to happen?

I had the same with ALL newer graphics drivers and H.264. Reverting to older drivers fixed it. Or... switch to H.265 and it stopped as well, even with new drivers. Also 8192 bitrate for 15FPS on a 2MP cam is twice what you need.

@CCTVCam you still have an extra space on the 3rd step between the / and startcomponentcleanup

Memory creeping on Intel Graphics 530

    @CCTVCam check your spaces, they seem inconsistent. Step 1: dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth Step 2: dism.exe /online / cleanup-image /restorehealth Step 3: dism.exe /online /cleanup-image / startcomponentcleanup

Memory creeping on Intel Graphics 530

Hmm.. I'm finding the same with my i5-6600 now. I only have 3 cams, and BI was using ~2400MB memory. After a reboot, 844MB. This is on driver 27.20.100.8681

No it doesn't, as AMD lacks quick sync.

8TB WD Purple - how much free space to keep?

You don't need 10% on a drive that big. I leave 200GB free space and it works just fine.

Of all the things to "rain" on my driveway...

They should be banned. I had one still smoldering land in my lap while sitting at the campfire at our summer cottage. I've also sucked them through my Sea-doo.

    set i-frames to match FPS

@bp2008 I still can't get my head around what the interval means. When you mention 2-4 second i-frame intervals, what do you have your FPS set to, and what do you have your i-frame interval set to?

Can you "see" a difference between 4092 and 8192 bitrate?

@105437 What CPU do you have? If you have 6th+ gen Intel, you can now switch to H.265 and which cuts your bitrate in half. HA decode has been working for 2+ weeks since the latest updates.

They probably did it in retaliation to Trump attempting to prevent 3M from shipping N95 masks outside of USA.

H.265 HA decode now works on Intel with 5.2.4.4

I just tried DirectX and Direct3D11, and they don't work for H.265. Just plain Intel does.

Please clarify what you mean. HW decode has been working on all of the most recent updates for me, for H.264 only. With today's update, H.265 HA decode appears to work now on Intel.

H.265 HA decode now works on Intel with 5.2.4.4

With the latest update, H.265 HA decode appears to be working on the Intel setting. I haven't tried the other settings (DirectX or Direct3D11). I changed a camera to H.265, and the feed froze as normal. But, when it came back, in the camera properties video tab, the HA stayed as default instead...

    IPC-T5442TM-AS max bit rate limited?

How many cameras do you have, and why are you using H.265 with Blue Iris? Blue Iris can't hardware accel decode H.265, so are you possibly maxing your CPU?

    Building a B.I, dedicated Intel i-9 system.

Nothing has changed, you still need a storage drive for the operating system and programs. The choice used to be only a HDD (or other hardware we won't get into). Now you can choose HDD or SSD (SSD is faster). Also not many SSDs have a heat sink, just some higher end motherboards sometimes...

    Building a B.I, dedicated Intel i-9 system.

A quick search online shows there is a BIOS update you can do to the XPS 8930 that supports the i9-9900K. Then you could just buy the chip and swap it in, reusing everything else (motherboard, memory etc.) But, your comment about not knowing what ram/DDR/memory is for, is kind of troubling and...
