IPC-HFW4239T-ASE TrueColor - new bullet camera.

Sorry just a pic of my monitor using my phone. Not supposed to be quality. Just a relative comparison of light gathering. Thought it was telling.

IPC-HFW4239T-ASE TrueColor - new bullet camera.

For a comparison of my new 4239 vs. 5231s (top row) and 5Mp Reolink's bottom row.

IPC-HFW4239T-ASE TrueColor - new bullet camera.

Will do and will buy a couple more for strategic locations. This camera is convincing me to improve my 12v exterior lighting around the property. Edit: In fact, I just pushed the button to order another one.

IPC-HFW4239T-ASE TrueColor - new bullet camera.

Today I installed my first (I say that now that it is night) IPC-HFW4239T-ASE. Very impressed! Running it along side three other Dahua cameras, HDW5231R-ZE, HFW5231E-Z5E, and HFW4231E-SE. The low light ability is flat out amazing compared.

    remote access issues

Yes I think it is time for VPN. I use VPN on my business laptop but have corporate IT guys handle that. My laptop is locked down hard due to requirements by our best customers. So hard, it gives me fits when traveling. I will attempt to create a VPN so I can access from my iPad that I carry...

    remote access issues

I'm having the same or similar problem. I can view my cams using UI3 interface app on my laptop or iPad via my home network but cannot if I try over the internet. I'm using port 81. Wondering if there is a router setting I need to change. Also have a dynamic IP address.

Opinion: Continuous vs. Motion Trigger Recording?

Okay... so give me some specifics on your set up. 12 cameras. Storage space? How many days of storage? FPS?

Opinion: Continuous vs. Motion Trigger Recording?

I changed my main (most important and activity) camera to continuous recording. Seems that with certain lighting (time of day and glare) it wouldn’t necessarily trigger. I suppose some tweaking to the sensitivity might have remedied the issue but decided not to mess with that in that one. For...

Opinion: Continuous vs. Motion Trigger Recording?

Just wondering about the pro's and con's of each. I am set up exclusively for motion trigger recording but after realizing I wasn't triggering one of my cameras without adjusting the sensitivity in BI, now wondering if I should change my tactics. There are obvious benefits such as storage and...

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

This is getting fun! Wife is worried about me though. I should not have found BI and ipcamtalk! :D Repostioned my cameras with the addition of a 5231 turret, and putting better use for my 5X Dahua . I now have a mix of Reolinks and Dahuas but I can see where the future is taking me w/ respect...

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

Okay... here is my finding. Tested 1/100th, 1/250th, and 1/500th. The first two with gain set at default 0-50, for the 1/500th I turned it up to 70. Looks like 1/250th might be the sweet spot. Any other suggestions? Note these are snapshots taken from the motion triggered video w/direct to...

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

Thanks J. I have some porch lighting and a motion sensor light that will help. I will try again tonight with faster shutter and compare. So is 'gain' equivalent to the old film speed rating ASA or ISO?

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

Okay played with this... Dahua HDW5231EP-5SE, 15fps, 15iframe. Before was default settings. After was changing to 16.67ms per Dank suggestion. Improvement... yes. Good still capture... no. Can I do better?

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

Okay, OP here... I'm a slow learner but I am learning (by fire) that the Reolink's, at least the ones I have... suck! I have a few Dahua Starlights installed now and at least I don't have the cut outs, blurred half screen, etc. Fenderman warned me. That said, I am still not getting a big...

    Difference between HDW2231R-ZS and HDW5231R-ZE?

Thank you, BP. I went ahead and ordered the 5231. Not planning on using the mic but I am installing at the front entrance door so the future option is nice.

    Difference between HDW2231R-ZS and HDW5231R-ZE?

Did some searching but still not clear as to the difference of the subject cameras. I read that the 5 series is Eco-Savvy vs. Lite but I have no idea what that means. $50 more but what am I missing?

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

This thread is drifting but I want to say thanks to the community here. A learning process for me. I did just set my recordings to direct to disk and halved my CPU usage. Again thanks to Wiki and all that contributed. Going to read some more Wiki now! :headbang: Went back and checked my CPU...

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

Absolutely love the idea of moving the IRs away from the camera or having multiple IRs. That would be cool especially in a multi camera set up.

Thanks SY, I also found this thread that helped explain it to me. Iframe interval on Dahua cameras

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

Thank you. Yes, fenderman explained that Reolink doesn't have I frame interval control. Could someone explain what is I frame interval? I realize there likely nothing that can be done and I am moving to Dahua's except for a couple but curious anyways!

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

I went with the bullets. On my old Lorex bullets I did get some filling of the small indented screw holes on the face of the camera (paper wasp?) but it never affected anything. Maybe that is what limited a spiderweb problem? :lmao: So, now I will have a mix of Dahua 2MP Starlight and 5Mp...

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

Thanks J and mat! I appreciate everyone's replies. I am reading through the cliff notes again, and in some cases again and again. Lots of great info but it takes time to absorb. It really helps to reread after you are experiencing issues. I understand the spiderweb thing. With my old Lorex...

    New Amazon shop

Hi Andy, just bought my first Dahua Starlights from your Amazon site! Excited to get them and I am sure I will be buying more if all the hype about night vision is true. Really glad to see you have an Amazon site. Sure makes it easier. Thanks!

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

just ordered both the fixed and variable 2Mp Starlights from Andy. Curious, though as to why the higher Mp Starlights aren't better. Please explain... are they worse in low light? Otherwise would be aiming for the 4Mp or 5Mp guys.

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

Oops! Thank you!!! I think I figured it out on the 4231 vs 5231. Simply fixed vs. variable length lens. Sorry for the newbie crap here. Trying to digest a lot of info on cameras, computers, software, etc. and keep my day job!

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

I'm assuming the one from B&H Photo is the same as this one... https://www.amazon.com/EmpireTech-IPC-HFW4231E-SE-Starlight-Network-English/dp/B07L8SHJ2N/ref=sr_1_46?m=A329YQ83EBQGJF&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1546492521&sr=1-46 I guess the question might be, what is the difference between...
