If I want to read licence plates and monitor the area...

Cool, that gives me some ideas, I'll see what I can convince them of. Of course they already invested in the amcrests, would have rather had the dahuas....

If I want to read licence plates and monitor the area...

I gotcha, onthe temp and humidity, but this is inside a shack with no airflow. I walk inside it and it's probably close to 110+ with the doors closed. No airflow through there at all. The router and fiber modem are mounted in there, but it was the hard drives we were worried about.

you have pics of the nvr on the nema boxes. We have a "guard" shack in the middle of our entrance where the cams are mounted. Inside is the power and internet. IT guys didn't want to run a NVR inside as it gets super stupid crazy hot inside. They figured the drives would fail in no time.

If I want to read licence plates and monitor the area...

I would, but this is an HOA project. In that on the HOA board, we have some IT pros that A. want offsite recording. B. do not want a NVR or other item required to be in a persons house, as then they control it. So in their wisdom, the best option was going with amcrest (which is what is...

If I want to read licence plates and monitor the area...

Cool, now if I can just figure out how to record 24/7 on these cams I'll be all set. I lost out on the argument of which cams to use, and am dealing with amcrest with uploading to amcrest cloud. Not my first choice but at least the cams are getting the plates.

    Newbie question

Yup, figured we'd need at least two. We have four for each corner of the "guard shack" and I'm getting them a little more educated and on board with getting 1 more cam for LPR on the incoming cars. Just messing around with the settings on my 2231, I'm able to grab the plate now......as...

    Newbie question

In my reading I started picking up the exposure settings and shutter speeds. Seen suggestions for night time, still looking for day time. Does going to manual and adjusting the shutter speed to 1/1000th. make a big difference? At current time I'm playing with my 2231 that I just got...

    Newbie question

Thanks for the info guys. I've been playing with the 2231 I have, and I see how needing a bigger lens. I haven't done too many adjustments, but has anyone been successfull getting clear enough video from a 2231? I saw you mentioned 30' I'll have to measure but that's close to where I am...

    Newbie question

I've been reading through the threads and such. We are setting up (or trying to ) some security cams on for the entrance and exit of our neighborhood. One thing I'd like is LPR, well not in the sense of catalog into a database, but I want to be able to id the plate. I have a...
