    Notes from the Swamp

Home Assistant paired with a Shelly Plus 1 allows for endless possibilities. I’m sure there’s a 3-axis gyro sensor that could be attached to the dock to sense movement. May not be able to catch minor hits without false alarms from wind but I bet it doesn’t shake like that during most storms

    How to open a pipe

In my experience most of the time a pipe is going to have right hand threads. There’s always exceptions to the rule but in general turning the pipe clockwise/righty-tighty threads it into the coupler/fitting. The problem is, as you’re turning the pipe clockwise the other end is essentially...

    How to open a pipe

Maybe stopping by a hardware store to look at a union would help visualize how they work. I believe it’s been said correctly to turn the top of the nut north, I would also suggest supporting the pipe/fittings on both sides of the nut until you get it broke loose.

T54IR-ZE-S3 Firmware Upgrade - new features?

I’ve had good luck eliminating false alarms from cats and other small animals by increasing the minimum target size. The box doesn’t need to be very large, just enough to tell the camera there’s no way a human is that small.

Dahua NVR - Can I receive IVS Push Notifications on DMSS app via public IP and open inbound ports with P2P Disabled?

First of all DO NOT PORT FORWARD. There’s no security through obscurity. Changing your port numbers does ABSOLUTELY nothing to hide you from the internet. It’s a nasty place to leave your front door wide open hoping nobody walks by and decides to step in. Do not port forward, use a VPN. If...

Openvpn, Blue iris and VPNbook , is this correct?

Set up WireGuard on the device with no DNS server and Allowed IPs set to the NVR IP address/32, (x.x.x.x/32). All other web traffic will be routed as normal.

Need help setting up OpenVPN with fiber optic

I just watched the video. I stand by my statement, cheaper but in no way was that easier to setup than the Brume and still requires port forwarding. Cool little devices but I don’t really want to mess with command lines

Cheaper possibly. I don’t think it would necessarily be any easier. Ports still have to be forwarded and settings set correctly

That will be necessary. ZeroTier is always an option that doesn’t require forwarding any ports but I don’t think it works as well

Need help setting up OpenVPN with fiber optic

I went with after but that’s because my router is a dual wan, so if my dsl connection goes down it will switch to the t-mobile home internet. If that happens I have to use ZeroTeir, so in my situation the Brume has to be after the main router. I would plug the Brume into a Eero lan port and set...
