What HDD is everyone using and what is your recording setting?

Yeah, I figured between you guys and that dude's YT videos, I'd get it decently set up. Going well so far. I haven't checked yet, but it seems to be doing about 20-30gb of recording/day. CPU usage is way down too. Before I'm fairly certain that it was over 75% all day, and now it's kinda...

Yeah. Saw your mention about not using it, should I just skip it completely and just go right to d:\

What HDD is everyone using and what is your recording setting?

Great, thank you. I'll get working on that Edit: after reading there, I -think- I've got it. You said not to use 90% or more, so I went for 75%. I have a very small c:\ drive so setting up the new was...I wasn't sure what to allocate it. I also deleted all the aux locations for now, so I think...

What HDD is everyone using and what is your recording setting?

Sorry to bump this, but I figured it was better than starting a new thread. I just added a 3tb Seagate drive to my setup for stored clips. Are your allocation settings sufficient for setting up Clips and archiving, or do I need to take additional steps? I tried looking for the BI tutorial part...

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

I definitely would love to, but I don't think they're going to, based on the rest of the lights around town, they look more like the sodium flavored lights, but I wasn't sure if those were also led or not. Just getting the neighbors on each street to sign the petition will be a battle enough, so...

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

Yeah, I probably should have prefaced that cars are my secondary goal. If I can ID them (year/make/model) if I need to talk to police again, that's great. Otherwise, people are my primary goal of detection, hence why I'm forcing color. It's already a huge improvement over what I was looking at...

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

I'll say after reading this review (but not enough reviews overall), I went ahead and pulled the trigger to order the IPC-B5442E-ZE based on just the video quality alone. I've posted that I had some cheap cameras that I setup years ago to learn the basics of this all, and to see what I'd...

Bricked SV3C IP 1080P Firmware help

Chiming in here after reading the last 5 pages...and it's all Greek to me. Back in Feb, I emailed the rep to say that my time and date weren't updating. She emailed me back to say that an update would release in March, so I forgot all about it. FF to Friday and I thought I had my time and date...

Setting up NetTime Time Sync Tool on Windows 10

Yeah, I was obviously confused when everyone was saying put your Nettime server in, I guess it didn't click that the pc was the server. I thought it was reaching out to Nettime or something to sync the time, and I was trying to find the ip address for nettime everywhere, lol. It has been a long...

Setting up NetTime Time Sync Tool on Windows 10

Because maybe I didn't do it right? After setting up the ntp to use the nettime info, it must not have liked whatever I did and reverted it to manual updating. I came back in and it wasn't updating the time and my video timestamps were all screwed up. Tried a few other things, it didn't work...

Setting up NetTime Time Sync Tool on Windows 10

Thanks for this writeup. I found the Nettime program myself but was wondering how to use it. I was having trouble syncing time w/ my cameras, even though I could go into the settings and change the method to update the time. Manual wasn't working and trying to sync to another ntp wasn't working...

Cameras w/ decent or any sound? Looking at options/upgrades

Will do, thanks for the heads up! As far as the zoom/varifocal goes, how you described it is how I have it set/have been using it since I set it up. Put it on the farthest camera down the driveway pointing towards the road, with a slight zoom on it so I can see plates better when they pull in...

Cameras w/ decent or any sound? Looking at options/upgrades

I set up my system a while ago and am running smoothly on BI for the most part, always playing w/ a setting or two here and there. I'm running (4) SV3C 2-12mm VF 2mp cameras to an Amcrest NVR, with BI on my pc, and for the bad rap they get for being Chinese (even I admittedly had some issues w/...

Heaters in the Lens to Prevent Condensation?

Yeah, it's a bullet camera, so I guess in this case we'd call it a dome. Yeah, the gasket goes around the dome and sits against the housing while the ring screws down and presses/clamps it against the housing to "seal" it. If they weren't all up now, I'd take pics of it to show you, but it...

Heaters in the Lens to Prevent Condensation?

What's a good way to seal cameras? Mine have an outer ring that clamps/tightens down on the lens that goes over the camera itself. That lens has a rubber gasket around it that is supposed to create the seal once the ring clamps down. Anything I can add to that? Also, I can't get those packets...

Heaters in the Lens to Prevent Condensation?

Once mine started fogging up, I opened them, hit both sides w/ Rain-x treatment, and they've been great ever since, even through winter and all sorts of other weather. I know this isn't a great fix, but hey, it worked and will do so until I upgrade them w/ better units.

    Hi from Rochester, NY

Yeah, I started queuing up those videos yesterday, just going over the basics and starting to get into the fun stuff. You know me, I'm gonna research the hell out of anything I do, then sit on it for a while before making a decision, haha. I actually noticed in one of the threads already that...

    Hi from Rochester, NY

Hey all, just thought I'd pop in and make a proper intro thread. I'm new to cameras and stuff like that, I originally got interested through my neighborhood association, which was formed because a lot of residents were experiencing activity (mainly due to unlocked cars and no exterior lights on)...

Heaters in the Lens to Prevent Condensation?

Should have had this conversation Friday, I was up on a ladder cleaning the damn thing on Saturday, ha. I would have definitely re-aimed it. You're right. Now that I can actually define my MD zones a bit better, I can move the cam a bit. This will be beneficial so I can see more of that front...

I cleaned up that one out front as well. There's definitely a lens flare there from the front light, but it was also in need of a little cleaning, there were some spots.

Heaters in the Lens to Prevent Condensation?

I had an issue w/ this happening in some cheaper cameras I bought for my system. All the cams came from China and both of them did it right out of the box. I contacted the company and they sent 2 more to me, which did not do this. Might have been a batch issue. I basically took the cap off the...
