The camera chip delivers 720p native. All other resolutions have to be scaled down. This is done to save bandwidth on network. It shouldn't be a problem to take the snapshot from native stream.

You where warned more than one time in this thread that an upgrade kills the WLAN functionality. I believe that the manufacturer has changed the WLAN Hardware and deliver other drivers within newer firmwares

Yes, and that means it is an USB host connector which is able to Power an USB WLAN Board. I assume you also could connect an USB keyboard to this connector. For using the cam on a PC as Webcam it would need an USB slave connector.
