After more playing around with Main Stream and Sub Stream I found that you need to reboot the NVR put the change in affect. Can anyone tell me what local configuration and remote configuration means?

Thanks for the answer on the alarm type. About the substream. Under local configuration I have Stream type set to Mainstream and Rules Enable. Under Camera settings/ Video settings, Video type is Main Stream (normal) Does those settings seem correct to you?
