Help identifying Dahua OEM NVR from Speco N8NXP

One thing I failed to do initially after flashing the NVR was a factory reset. My IVS wouldn’t work until I factory reset the NVR after the firmware update.

NVR: V4.001.0000000.1, Build Date: 2020-03-19 Cameras: LaView branded Saturn 4K. I forget what the Dahua version is. I believe it’s dahua 4831em-ase

Help identifying Dahua OEM NVR from Speco N8NXP

I’m using one of the newer firmware versions and it’s been working great for me, but my cameras are also running newer firmware versions as well. DMSS connects just fine, playback is good, and I get IVS.

So I think I ran into the same problem initially. I think it’s because whatever file that updates the logo wasn’t/isn’t in the base file that we all started with. Once you update to latest Dahua firmware for the NVR, it should be there.

I didn’t try it, but it seems like Speco might have locked down the files. I’m guessing some sort of signature in the file that Speco looks for.

What is your network information for NVR when booted normally?
  8. M

Not when running the base Speco firmware. Yes after flashing to Dahua firmware.

Help identifying Dahua OEM NVR from Speco N8NXP

Well I just want to make sure that you can boot the system normally (without trying to flash it) and get it on your network. If that works you should take note of the network settings that are configured and use these to setup the network setting when booting via serial. Are you able to boot the...

Help identifying Dahua OEM NVR from Speco N8NXP

so I’ll ask some initial questions first...did you have good network connection before attempting this process...with the NVR booted? That’ll probably be setup one to make sure you have all your IP address info correct. Next, once you’re in the boot menu and setup the IP address info, you need...

Good work! Maybe post the details about the connector in this thread for when the listing eventually gets removed?

That’s what I’m thinking. That or maybe I need to update my camera firmware? I’m running a build from 12/2019 on the cameras, and the NVR I believe is a build from 03/2020.

hmm, interesting. I did turn it on on the camera. On the NVR I consistently get the red “Disconnected” pop up when I click Smart Plan, and when I click IVS I get the red “Failed to acquire config” pop up.

So after messing around with the updated firmware and my cameras, i can't seem to get IVS working. I have IVS set up on one of my cameras, SmartPlan enabled and several tripwires. I turned on the Intelligent option in the recording manager. Not sure if this is just a byproduct of the hardware...

Well it's official. I did it. I'm now running the latest Dahua firmware on the Speco branded NVR. Special thanks to sstevetx and val-ipcam for trying this out first and taking a lot of the unknown out. Everything went exactly as described previously. As mentioned before, I tried the method that...

So like I mentioned before, I haven’t gotten around to trying this yet on my NVR, but this is the serial adapter I ordered. It includes a ribbon cable with the Individual headers to be able to slip onto the pins, even if it’s not a molded 4-pin header. Unless these pins are some odd size, I...

Wow that’s awesome. Thanks for all the info. I don’t know when i’ll get a chance to try all this, but it looks promising. One question...from the looks of it, did you remove the header off the the DB-9 connector and manually run the wires to your usb module? Would something like a usb to serial...

Whoaaa! That’s great news! You are a brave soul my friend, and thank you for confirming my suspicion about the model. Besides maybe some branding differences, did you notice anything obviously different? IVS features? Do you know if the Speco apps stop working? Regarding the UART...can you...

Hey Andre, glad I’m not the only one interested in updating the firmware on this. I’ve been contemplating for a few weeks now on updating the firmware. I’m still on the fence, as I don’t want to risk losing a perfectly good system.

Thanks for the reply @looney2ns. Do you happen to know the specific model you tested? The amazon listing I posted is the only one I could find that showed the internals of the unit. Is there any way I could get some additional info about the hardware via ssh or something?

Help identifying Dahua OEM NVR from Speco N8NXP

Hey everyone. I’m trying to find the original Dahua version of the Speco N8NXP NVR. Based on my research, I think it’s the Dahua NVR4208-8P-4KS2. I’ve opened up the NVR and it seems to match identically both inside and on the back ports. I used the pictures on this amazon listing for reference...

    New Firmware for IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_V2.800.0000013.0.R.191202.zip

For anyone curious, confirmed this works on the LaView Saturn 4K turret. Don’t know if I had to, but I factory defaulted from within web interface, installed update, then factory defaulted again. So far so good!
