2542 Lens ball-ache :-(

Hi everyone,
First post!

I've kitted out my house with 10x DS-2CD2542FWD cameras, I had them in my old house and liked them.
I remember when installing them last time, that manoeuvring the lens to catch the intended area was really difficult on some of them as you had to use this little plastic tool, and my hope was that it'd get better with the next HW release.

Well..... I've got the newer ones, and instead of it being 1 or 2 that are difficult to modify, it's all of them!
Can anyone reccomend a different tool, or method of getting the lens to move around a bit more freely please?

Hey noobey,

They can be a little tight. I generally loosen off the retaining screw of the lock ring a fair way and give the ring a bit of a jiggle to unseat things. The plastic cap tool is handy to make sure you don't damage anything whilst moving the lens around. Otherwise, they are generally OK.
