Hi, newbie here and find myself in need of some advice. UK based in case that matters. Apologies if it goes on, getting late and cheesed off with Foscam at the moment!
I have used Blue Iris on my Desktop PC for a number of years now. In conjunction with this I have also used various iterations of Foscam cameras. All indoor wifi models situated on windows sills to cover outside. Solution worked well but cams were fairly low res.
Also house has solid concrete walls everywhere and having 8 cameras on 2Ghz was affecting other systems like my Hue lights and Sonos speakers. SO hatched a plan to go 5Ghz to alleviate the problems.
I picked up a Foscam R4M model late last year to try out a 5Ghz camera. Not sure on the exact version of the camera (will check that tomorrow after work) but it worked well. Higher res, works with Blue Iris, ability to fully configure via a web browser, create multiple users. fantastic I thought.
Finally had the funds to purchase a bunch more of them and arrived today from Foscam UK. Spent all this evening pulling my hair out! So these R4M's are v5's. Web configuration no longer supported, have to use the crappy app or VMS program both of which are shockingly bad. Can't change the ip address or port, only 1 user login can be created.
Unless in my red mist I have missed something obvious!
So it looks like unless I can source some earlier versions of the R4M's (and I have ordered another bunch from Amazon which look to be an older version but if not they are easily returned to Amazon) I need to find an alternate make/model of camera.
Indoor, wifi 5Ghz or dual band, ability to fully configure via web browser, multiple users, DDNS, works with Blue Iris. And the moon on a stick as well, why not...
Any help and pointers appreciated.
