Getting the hang of it

Updated from 5.6.5.9 to 5.6.8.1. Thought everything was running ok until I noticed a lot of missing notifications. Went and looked and it was the AI Timeout error that was happening. So I rebooted just to be sure any random Gremlins were flushed out and got the same issue. Reverted back to 5.6.6.1 and STILL getting the same AI timeouts.

I have not had to touch any of this in a VERY long time, so I am not as up to speed as I probably should be.
Below is my AI settings (using deepstack). Clicking on the "Open AI Control Panel" opens up the expected Deepstack web page.

Looking at my logs, it is obvious that the last time AI functioned correctly was just prior to upgrading to 5.6.8.1.
It has not worked since and even reverting back to 5.6.5.9 AI (Deepstack) is still not working.

Any troubleshooting thoughts?

You answered your own question....you updated...

Deepstack is no longer supported by BI as it switched to CodeProject, so every update beyond when DeepStack last worked runs the risk of it breaking a functional Deepstack system if favor of supporting CodeProject.

I am sitting on the version before CodeProject was introduced because Deepstack works perfect for me and nothing has been added that I need or want.

Unless the update adds something you really want or need, rollback to the prior version when it worked.

" rollback to the prior version when it worked. "
As I stated above, I did exactly that. I rolled back to 5.6.5.9. Which I show in the logs as being the version I upgraded from (and proof that AI was working) to the 5.6.8.1 version that BROKE AI.

SUMMARY OF LOGS SHOWING WHEN IT BROKE:
2 1/11/2023 5:12:32.008 PM Upper_Basement AI: timeout
0 1/11/2023 5:09:11.473 PM App Started version 5.6.8.1
0 1/11/2023 5:09:11.473 PM App Updated from version 5.6.5.9
0 1/11/2023 5:07:20.910 PM Upper_Basement AI: [combined] person:81% [305,175 377,450] 137ms (VERSION 5.6.5.9)

Since I did upgrade, then reverted, do I need to remove any files, folders, registry settings?

You said "Updated from 5.6.5.9 to 5.6.8.1" and then "Reverted back to 5.6.6.1" which is newer than your previous version, then finally "reverting back to 5.6.5.9"

So doing essentially two updates from the working 5.6.5.9 by going to 5.6.8.1 and then to 5.6.6.1 could have introduced an issue that stayed with it

I would delete Deepstack and reinstall it.

I would delete Deepstack and reinstall it.

BINGO! Removing Deepstack and reinstalling it WAS the answer.

I love Blue Iris and love Deepstack, but I almost feel like mom and dad are getting a divorce and I'm being left behind! :)
Not sure codeproject will ever live up to Deepstack. Don't think they even have a GPU version do they?

Again, thanks for the quick reply and support of a fellow Deepstacker!

Good deal!

Yeah Deepstack has been perfect for me and does exactly what I need.

CodeProject has some GPU ability now, but until BI adds something I really want or need, I am sticking with my version with Deepstack that works perfectly for my needs.

I have seen mixed reviews for CodeProject - everywhere from conversion from Deepstack to CodeProject was simple and smooth, to endless problems and they reverted back to Deepstack.

The day will come that I move to CodeProject, but not today LOL.

How does the accuracy and speed of object detection compare to DS?
Most users are seeing better accuracy and faster speed
