Hi,

I am looking at this Dahua IP-camera which has an output 1 channel out: 300 mA 12 VDC

https://www.dahuasecurity.com/in/products/All-Products/Network-Cameras/WizSense-Series/3-Series/4MP/DH-IPC-HFW3441EP-AS

I would assume that when the camera-alarm is triggered, there will be a 12V output through this cable (with a max of 300mA). Is this correct ?

If that is so. If I were to connect a light-siren to this output, I would need to use a relay switch (circuit), so the relay is turned-ON when there is 12V output from the camera-alarm.

No.
The alarm output is a relay.
When the relay is triggered, those two wires are connected. When the relay is not triggered, the two wires are disconnected.
You need to wire a siren in with an external power supply. The camera's alarm out relay is wired in the same way a switch would be wired into your siren's circuit.

Won't need relay if the siren you will connect to is able to work with 12v at or below 300ma.. if you want to drive a high current device then powered siren that works with wet contact input or would need external relay with 12 power supply.. if you have siren already you can test the current draw with the right tools, or if you have bench power supply set to 12v 300ma and test that it works.. Adjust down to 250ma if works then it should with with cameras built in 300ma wet contact relay output.
