Alert playback starting at beginning of clip versus the trigger point

If I double click and alert clip, sometimes playback will be from the beginning of the saved clip versus at the trigger point. I have my video setup for continuous sub + alerts and combine or cut video every hour.

For example, lets say I have an alert at 07:35. If I double click that alert in the clips list, sometimes the playback will be from the start of the clip (07:00 in this example) versus from the alert (07:35 in this example). This doesn't happen for all time. I can select the same clip multiple times and it will eventually show the clip starting at the alert time.

Blue Iris version: 5.9.4.5 (this has happened on earlier versions as well).

This suggests that the alert offset is not always being retrieved from the database.

Are there any database-related entries in the logfile? For example 'DB, DBRegenerate: corruption skipping xxx bytes '

Have you recently performed a database Repair/Regenerate?

I pulled out the DB items from the latest log and there is this:

202407.txt:20250:0 7/3/2024 9:24:11.297 AM DB DBRegenerate: started
202407.txt:20251:1 7/3/2024 9:24:12.047 AM DB DBRegenerate: corruption skipping 730720 bytes
202407.txt:20253:0 7/3/2024 9:35:46.082 AM DB DBRegenerate: 184926 records

I did a DB repair this morning with no issue in the regenerate phase and I still see the clip issue.

Have you performed a database Repair & Regenerate
I pulled out the DB items from the latest log and there is this:

202407.txt:20250:0 7/3/2024 9:24:11.297 AM DB DBRegenerate: started
202407.txt:20251:1 7/3/2024 9:24:12.047 AM DB DBRegenerate: corruption skipping 730720 bytes
202407.txt:20253:0 7/3/2024 9:35:46.082 AM DB DBRegenerate: 184926 records

I did a DB repair this morning with no issue in the regenerate phase and I still see the clip issue.
I found a few old threads reporting a similar issue (google search), but found no solutions... except asking if the user was always double-clicking clips list items with the alerts filter applied (the lightning bold icon, not the 'All clips' icon).

You might have to take the next step of blowing out the existing database with a 'Delete & Regenerate' action,
But be warned that this will cause you to lose all database thumbprints in the clips list.
The only way you can preserve Alert images is if you 1) set the alert's Protect flag and 2) are either saving Hi-Res JPGS, or using AI while also saving DAT files and/or burning alert image markups. I only protect alerts that I want to preserve.

If you want to avoid this for now, then I suggest you email Blue Iris Support.
If this is your first time, click the '?' icon in the UI and follow the instructions. And be prepared to wait days for a response; it's a one-man shop.

Also, I note that you have your video recording setup for continuous sub + alerts. Many of us use continuous sub + triggered. This ensures that you recording the best quality video during all events, regardless if an alert is generated. At some point you will be happy you did this.

Thanks @jaydeel for the response. I will change over to continuous sub + triggered and just kind of flow with the oddity in playing back clips for now.
