Greetings Ip cam talk like the title says I just picked up this empire tech camera and cannot connect to it. I've watched the video's I've read the forum posts but still nothing. I have it connected into a poe switch with plenty of power I can see that the switch is getting signal from the camera but no luck connecting to it.
I'm sure it's my computer config in that my system is missed matched from the camera ip of 192.168.1.108. Whats frustrating is the config program was supposed to see the camera but it does not. So what is a easy way to get this thing up and running?
Thanks
John

For this camera you will need to use Internet Explorer (yeah we know but it is still available) - not Edge or Chrome with IE tab, but plain ole Explorer or Pale Moon. If you use another browser some of the settings might not hold.

The default IP address of the camera is 192.168.1.108, which may or may not be the IP address range of your system.

Unhook a computer or laptop from the internet and go into ethernet settings and using the IPv4 settings manually change the IP address to 192.168.1.100

Then power up your camera and wait a few minutes.

Then go to INTERNET EXPLORER (needs to be Explorer and not Edge or Chrome with IE tab) and type in 192.168.1.108 (default IP address of Dahua cameras) and you will then access the camera.

Tell it your country and give it a user and password.

Then go to the camera Network settings and change the camera IP address to the range of your system and hit save.

You will then lose the camera connection.

Then reverse the process to put your computer back on your network IP address range.

Next open up INTERNET EXPLORER and type in the new IP address that you just gave the camera to access it.

OR use the IPconfig Tool, but most of us prefer the above as it is one less program needed and one less chance for the cameras to phone home or for something to get screwed up.

Thanks for the reply, so I've changed the ipv4 to what is displayed but then how does the computer see the camera if it's not connected to the internet?

These cameras do not need internet.

Most of us do not allow our cameras to access the internet.

A web browser doesn't need internet (unless you are searching the internet) - but without internet it is simply a computer program to allow you to access the camera connected to your computer.

Well I really don't know why I can't get this to work so I will describe everything I am doing.
Using and old laptop with win 7 and IE installed
Have camera connected to POE switch with plenty of power, poe sw is connected to a regular sw which was connected to router which I have unplugged so only the laptop is connected to it from the laptop Ethernet port
Go to IE type in 192.168.1.108 and nothing.
Thanks for the help and patients with this

If your computer is being issued an ip by the router (dhcp) on something other than 192.168.1.x (as it sounds) you need to follow @wittaj s directions to make your computer and the camera to be on the same 192.168.1.x network in order to see it

Are the switches managed switches (VLAN or some unmanaged switch with a toggle that can tell the ports not to talk to one another)?

It is why I suggest disconnecting the computer from the router. The router is assigning IP addresses and likely assigning an IP that is anything but 192.168.1.x

Well after all that what it boiled down too was I needed to reset the camera and then and only then did it show up in the config tool. Why it wasn't set to factory default settings is beyond me but I am up and running.
Thanks to all who helped, I'm sure I will be back asking for your expertise again.

Yeah I probably should have suggested that.

That is the first thing I do with any new camera is do a factory reset first on it in the even the firmware got wonked out sitting waiting to be powered up or power was cut too quickly when manufactured.
