Any creative ideas for fence mounting a dahua cam?

See photo. I did this a while ago. I really like the "face height" aspect of things but with nothing covering the camera from above, it takes the rain and snow full on, including "rain on camera lens".

Is this style pretty much the best I can do or is there a bracket that would provide more cover from the top somewhere?

I could cover the camera shown in the photo with some kind of plywood on top of the fence but I also don't want my fence to look too much like a kid's fort.

I have the same style fence on my back alley and Im thinking of moving another turret camera down to eye level again but in the alley Im a bit more worried someone will just start grabbing onto my camera or kicking it so I was gonna holesaw through one of the fenceboards and mount it on the yard side so the camera would be well hidden and secure. But back to the "kid's fort" thing, Id like to make the mounting look as good as possible on the yard side.

In that case I'd be mounting it right on a corner so it wouldn't look to bad to mitre cut some fenceboard at 45 degrees and hang the camera right on the inside.

But wondering if ipcamtalk has a "macgyver mounting" section where people shared their neatest ideas.

I might just holesaw the fence shown for this camera too but thought Id checkin before the wife starts asking questions like, "What did you do to the fence?"

The bracket definitely helps for rain and snow. Not perfect but reduces it alot. What about painting the camera in the same color or color that not stands out like white.

Many here paint the camera to better blend in.

Many here have taken a larger diameter PVC pipe and created a "shield" that extends just past the lens.

Some have taken a piece of aluminum roll and added an extension.

I have seen several made from fence boards to resemble a bird house. There are members here on IPCT who have cameras disguised as bird houses. Here is a quick photo that I found to give you an idea.

Thats the sort of thing Im looking for thanks. In the photo I showed I think I like the camera being obvious, but in the back alley I will want to hide it more I think

If you could find one large enough, maybe hide it in something like this:

Thats really nice. Ill try to find a giant owl or some bird of prey and hide the lens in it's eye

I have 4 of these turrets mounted on my fence and don't have any issues with rain or snow.

However, I did mount the junction box on the backside of the fence to reduce the stack up height with the camera. I used the same Dahua junction box you have pictured since I also have a camera on the backside of the fence, but depending on how your ethernet comes in you could use a basic enclosure on the backside for your connection. It might help with the elements to get the camera closer to the fence.

Here it is, what I did with a Michaels bird house. Though I have to redo it and use some better paint, because it did not hold up well.
