I have an issue with the Dahua IPC-HFW4431R-Z that I installed yesterday

When the IR kicks in I get a very washed out/milky kind of picture:

Day time picture is fine, any idea of what might be causing this?

your IR is reflecting off something and right back into the lens.. soffits?

you'll need to re-frame the camera or install it in a more appropriate location.

I rotated the camera ~60 degrees and it's now covering my backward where there is no surfaces that can reflect back into the camera and I still have the same issue:

I did a factory reset of my settings.

Changing the strength of the IR does pretty much nothing.

I verified that there is no protective film covering the camera.

what if you turn the IR off completely? whats a fully zoomed out image look like?

its clearly IR reflection if it goes away when IR is off, whats that white thing on the left of the frame.. I guarantee you thats the culprit, just look at what its doing to your image.

push the camera to the right and turn the IR back on, center on those cars and i bet it wont be a problem.

Yeah I moved it a little and it's much better now? Working properly now.

It seems like the sofit is reflecting the light back into the camera:

zoomed in it gives me:

I guess that I have no other choice but to move the camera somewhere else =/

Thanks for your help, I didn't even think of zooming out. Thought that it was a defective camera...

soffits reflect about as much light as the mirror in your bathroom; they are both roughly 90% reflective.. its just not polished.. they cause problems with all sorts of cameras.

it looks like a poor install, always test it for 24h before attaching it permanently.. it'll save you a bunch of headaches.
