Is there any way to connect a DS-HD1 doorbell to my wifi without installing Hik-Connect? My phone is leery of installing a 107MB executable directly from Hikvision's website. Why isn't this in the Google store?
 
Yes, it is possible. Use the "Batch Configuration Tool" or IVMS-4200 tools. You will need a PC with a wifi adapter (so you can run said tools and also change to the cam's default wifi AP to configure it to connect to yours)
 
Is there a comparison of the batch config tool vs. the IVMS4200 somewhere? Wondering which would be best to use to set up. Are they essentially the same or does one allow more settings to be changed than the other?
 
Turns out my DS-HD1 quit working after a few weeks (would no longer connect to my wifi network), so I uninstalled it and put in an AD110, which has been working great.
