Hello,
Just got a Luma NVR and Luma cameras a few weeks back and was unimpressed with their desktop app that came along with a data sheet that explained a bunch of features that they lost with Mac OS progressions and only provided workarounds/no real resolutions. Based on the way the doc was written, it didnt seem like they were invested in keeping up with the mac OS. Fast forward to when I did the Catalina update on my computer and now the Luma app is not committable with the new OS. I pinged the guy I got the cameras from and he asked Luma, who said they were aware but had no ETA for resolution and essentially blamed Apple. The guy also told me about another distributor who carries 20-50 different brands of NVRs and he said that they told them they're having problems across the board with all products and Mac.
So, obviously concerned as I dont plan on deviating from Mac and dont want to run VM fusion simply to access my cameras and I dont feel like Luma is invested in keeping pace w/Apple etc. Camera and NVR investment was a decent one, so I just want to make sure that I'm not going to be in a situation where it's a constant struggle…..
I'm also new to NVRs and cameras, so wasnt sure if this is common across the industry, if I'm silly to think I can have a functional camera app on my laptop etc.
Are there NVRs that are camera agnostic and play well w/Mac
Are there softwares that provide a layer/solution between the two?
Thanks in advance for insight and help!
