Asus router and Instant Guard

I Have noticed the Instant Guard VPN feature on Asus routers mentioned on other forums. Looks like it is a tunnel VPN that's easy to set up.

I currently use OpenVPN and find it to be great although a little learning curve in setting it up. What's the deal with Instant Guard?

It seems to be a proprietary VPN that Asus has created for their ecosystem. It's designed to be easy to set up and use for the dumbest average home user which usually means probably not as secure as other methods. Personally I would stick with the open source and widely accepted OpenVPN software before I used Instant Guard.
